Welcome to Market Rasen for an exciting afternoon of jumps racing at our Community Raceday celebrating the exceptional skills and contributions of our local businesses and community members.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our headline sponsors Market Rasen Town Council for their generous support of today’s racing along with Europa Industries and Allinson Print. An additional special thank you to Richard and Teressa Fox who have generously sponsored Race Six in memory of Mal & Mo Fox.
There will be two pony races today kicking off the action at 1.20pm and 1.30pm followed by a seven-race card.
Alongside today’s cracking racing we invite you to join us as we announce the winners of the prestigious local Community & Business Awards, showcasing the pinnacle of excellence in our community Awards will be given for several categories for both Community and Business and includes the Business of the Year Award. Come and learn about some of our finest community partners including Lincolnshire Police to the Army Reserves and many more local people who will be hosting display around the racecourse.
We are also excited to host talent-masters from our local schools with various competitions throughout the day including a mouth-watering bake-off competition. There is also an array of inflatables within the Lawn Enclosure area and don’t forget the Neigh and Play children’s area to keep the little ones happy.
Apart from the thrilling races on offer this afternoon, Market Rasen Racecourse offers a variety of amenities to enhance your day out. For an exceptional hospitality experience, we recommend advance reservations for spaces at our award-winning Altiors Restaurant where you can indulge in fine dining while immersing yourself in the electric atmosphere of the races.
Looking ahead we continue a summer of jumps racing with more exciting fixtures throughout, including the Summer Plate Ladies Day on Saturday 22 July and the return of Rasen Rocks on Saturday 19 August featuring live music from Tom Grennan after racing. Be sure to secure your tickets well in advance for both of these racedays, as they tend to sell out quickly You can find information and purchase tickets for all our events, as well as annual badges, on our website: www.thejockeyclub.co.uk/marketrasen
I hope that you have a fantastic time at Market Rasen today and wish the horses and their connections the very best of luck

There was plenty to like about ROSE IN THE PARK’s successful bumper debut at Bangor and Shark Hanlon’s mare is fancied to take her record under Rules to 2-2 now hurdling. Ma Belle Noire sets a clear standard of those with hurdles experience and should ensure the selection doesn’t have it all her own way. You Say Its Over is a modest pick for third.

The John Matthews Memorial Handicap Hurdle is run in the memory of John Matthews, the former Mayor of Market Rasen who sadly passed away in February 2021. John served seven tenures as the Mayor of Market Rasen and was an extremely popular figure throughout Lincolnshire.
John also served as an avid member of Market Rasen Business Initiative Group, The Mary Portas Pilot, Market Rasen Town Partnership, De Aston School Governor, Market Rasen Racecourse Liaison, and Market Rasen Station Restoration Group, as well as his council work.
John and his family did a great deal for local charities during his tenures as Mayor, raising over £20,000 for causes such as the Air Ambulance, Lives, Fire Fighters, Motor Neuron Disease Association and Flights for Life.
John was also a keen supporter of the racecourse and is much missed by all throughout the locality.
