THE BRITISH EBF 40TH ANNIVERSARY GLASGOW STAKES (CLASS 1)(LISTED RACE)
Race Description
This one mile and three furlongs contest for three-year-olds is a Listed race; a race that can only be bettered by a Group 1, 2 or 3 race Many of the runners in this race will have already shown themselves to be talented and this race provides a perfect medium for them to be tested against a better class of rival before making the jump into a Group race. Initially, the weights are set at 9st 7lb for colts and geldings and 9st 2lb for fillies before penalties are awarded to horses that have previously won above a certain level – 3lb for a Listed race victory or 5lb for a Group 3 success.

TIMEFORM VIEW Made a winning handicap debut upped to 1 1/2m at the York Dante meetingand coped with the step up to 14.2f in Group company when third at Royal Ascot next time (Circle of Fire 1 1/4 lengths adrift in fourth). Drop back in trip shouldn’t be an issue and this unexposed colt is just about the one to beat. TF RatingHHHHH BHA 104

Probable S.P.: 4-1

TIMEFORM VIEW Reappearance second to Castle Way in a listed race at Newmarket in May represents solid form. Hasn’t kicked on from that in 2 subsequent starts, albeit he wasn’t far behind Chesspiece when fourth in the Queen’s Vase last time and should again make his presence felt. TF RatingHHHII BHA 102

TIMEFORM VIEW Winner of 1m Haydock maiden on debut last September before taking a big step forward when third in a French Group 1 the following month. Disappointing when behind Circle of Fire on return at Newmarket but he remains of strong interest in view of his 2-y-o promise TF RatingHHHHI BHA 108

9-2 (1)
Form: 624-440
TIMEFORM VIEW Fairly useful juvenile who scored twice around 1m last summer Not disgraced in pattern company on first 2 starts of this season safely held in a Royal Ascot handicap last time and she has plenty to find with each of her 4 rivals here. TF RatingHIIII BHA 90
5 SEA OF ROSES (GB) (29) B f Sea The Moon (GER) - Plume Rose
Owner: Weldspec Glasgow Limited
Breeder: Overbury Stallions Ltd
Probable S.P.: 11-2
Sponsor: Weldspec Baku Limited
Jockey: Hayley Turner
Trainer: Andrew Balding, Kingsclere
9-2 (4)
Form: 21-2505
TIMEFORM VIEW Useful filly who returned to action with a good second in Group 3 at Saint Cloud. No threat in the Musidora/Oaks next 2 starts but back on track when fifth of 17 in the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot last month and a repeat of that form would give her a fighting chance TF RatingHHHII BHA 101
