Sixth Race

A warm welcome to our G4 Claims Glasgow Stakes Racenight – one of our richest racing nights of the year with a card worth nearly £125,000, featuring our highest-grade race of the year, the Class 1 British EBF 40th Anniversary Glasgow Listed Stakes.

A big thank you to our title sponsors this evening, Wishaw-based G4 Claims Ltd, who are one of Scotland’s leading ‘Not at Fault’ claims companies. Your sponsorship is very much appreciated and enables us to enrich the prize money on offer tonight. We would also like to thank the European Breeders Fund who support our race programme so much all year including tonight’s Glasgow Stakes. I am also delighted to welcome three new sponsors this evening – McGarry Flooring & Upholstery Contracts, Digital Footprints and 525 Accountancy Service I hope you and all your guests have a great time here with us tonight.

We have a strong field of runners for the G4 Claims Not At Fault Claims Made Easy Scottish Stewards’ Cup, which is a fast and furious handicap over 6f at 7.05pm. The race reflects the famous Stewards’ Cup which is run each year during the Glorious Goodwood Festival and the winner of our Scottish version often goes on to run well in the Goodwood race Five of this evening’s runners hold early entries for the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood and they will be hoping to emulate Commanche Falls who won the Scottish Stewards’ Cup in 2021 before taking the honours at Goodwood in both 2021 and 2022. Tim Easterby’s Hyperfocus is the highest rated horse in the race but former course and distance winners Jump The Gun and Illusionist will certainly be looking to feature for Iain Jardine and Grant Tuer respectively.

This year’s running of the Glasgow Listed Stakes is at 7.40pm and is by some way the richest flat race staged in Britain today We have a small but very high-quality field for this year’s renewal with four of the five runners rated at 101 or above. Simon & Ed Crisford run Chesspiece in the iconic colours of Godolphin whilst Sir Michael Stoute has entered Circle of Fire for HM The King and HM The Queen. Johnston Racing have an excellent record in this race having won on six previous occasions. Joe Fanning has ridden four of those winners and will be hoping for a good run from Crackovia. Ralph Beckett also has winning form in this race and will be hoping top-rated Salt Bay can contest the honours this evening, whilst Andrew Baldings’ Sea of Roses completes the line up with Hayley Turner taking the ride on a rare visit to Hamilton Park. Once the fantastic racing action has finished, we’ll be celebrating the music of two of Scottland’s greatest music artists with the incredible Simple Minded and Deacon Blue’s tribute bands who will take to the stage after the last race, so do stay on and enjoy the show until bars close at 10.45pm. We have a couple of weeks without racing before we open our gates for our ever-popular Boë Ladies’ Night on Saturday 5 August. Demand for tickets is at an all-time high, so do head to www.hamilton-park.co.uk to secure your tickets for our biggest night of the year!

Have a wonderful evening and I hope you back a winner or two!

Kind regards,

ASHLEY MOON, RACECOURSE MANAGING DIRECTOR
