THE HALLIWELL JONES SELLING STAKES (CLASS 4)

for two yrs old

Total prize fund £18000

Owners Prize Money 1st £7229, 2nd £3614, 3rd £1807, 4th £904, 5th £452, 6th £225, 7th £113, 8th £56 (Penalty Value £9172.80)

Race Description

Selling Stakes exist as an outlet for connections to sell their horses. Any horse that wins a seller such as this seven furlongs contest for two-year-olds, is automatically put up for public auction in the Winners Enclosure at the end of the race and goes to the highest bidder so make sure to head that way after the race as the auction is usually well worth seeing.

Stewards Note:

KENYAN WARRIOR: Following its run on 17/6/2023 it was reported that the horse was slowly away

MAKING DREAMS: Following its run on 1/6/2023 it was reported that the horse hung right handed.

Probable S.P.’s: 2-1 Up The Jazz (IRE), 3-1 Mimi Kakushi (IRE), 10-3 On Borrowed Time (GB), 14-1 Storm Alice (GB), 25-1 Making Dreams (IRE), Patasola (IRE), Pretence (IRE), 66-1 Kenyan Warrior (IRE), Major Kessaar (IRE)

ON BORROWED TIME is the only previous winner in the field and can defy a penalty to remain unbeaten after edging out Mimi Kakushi at Redcar last week. George Boughey’s filly has the widest draw to overcome but is unlikely to be far away again now fitted with headgear Up The Jazz went very close in the valuable York seller a fortnight ago and has obvious claims if coping with the longer trip.

Don’t forget to bet on the 7:00 at NEWMARKET and 7:10 at NEWCASTLE.
