CITY SELECTIONS Recent Wolverhampton scorer Mighty River demands the utmost respect on his nursery debut, but KINGSLEY PRIDE edges the vote. He split two above-average rivals over C&D last month and the son of Roaring Lion can go one better, with first-time cheekpieces a likely source of improvement. Uncle Matthew was disappointing on his handicap debut at Kempton, but he’s in excellent hands and a 4lb ease in the ratings ought to aid his chances.

PLAY SMARTER MIGHTY RIVER cemented the positive start made and displayed a willing attitude to boot when off the mark at Wolverhampton 12 days ago and he earns the vote to follow up now his sights are set on handicaps. Kingsley Pride looked far from straightforward when just touched off over C&D recently but it’s still early days and he’s a threat. Look Back Smiling is another not ruled out.
