The Star Bright Players Auditions –

Once Upon a Mattress

For the fall of 2025, the Star Bright Players (ages 13-18) will produce Once Upon a Mattress, the beloved musical comedy, recently revived on Broadway with Sutton Foster as Winnifred. Many moons ago in a far-off place, Queen Aggravain decreed no couples could marry until her son, Prince Dauntless, found a bride. Princesses came from far and wide to win the hand of the prince, but none could pass the impossible tests given to them by the Queen. That is, until the “shy” swamp princess, Winnifred the Woebegone, showed up. Would she be able to pass the Sensitivity Test, marry her prince and help Lady Larken and Sir Harry to the altar? Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the classic tale The Princess and the Pea provides some side-splitting shenanigans. For after all, a princess is a delicate thing. The director is Stefani Rose Martin.

Please refer to our website HERE in July for important pre-audition information and forms, including the ability to sign up for auditions.

REHEARSALS will be Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5:30 - 8:30pm at the Academy Park Campus in Franklin, starting Wednesday, September 17, with a cast/crew/parent meeting. There will also be three (3) Saturday afternoon rehearsals (1:00-4:00pm) on September 20, October 18, and November 15. There will be no rehearsals October 7-8, November 11 or November 25-26.

PERFORMANCES/FEES**

There will be four (4) performances December 12-14, 2025 at the Williamson County Performing Arts Center. Once cast, a registration code will be provided to cast members. **The cast activity fee will be $225. The crew activity fee will be $60. There is an optional $10 show t-shirt fee.

Mission Statement:

It is the goal of the Williamson County Community Chorus to engage passions, inspire achievement, deepen connections and broaden community through choral music.

The Williamson County Community Chorus was founded in 2017 under the direction of Dr. Linda Bolding. The chorus grew quickly and at only 2 years old was invited to sing at Carnegie Hall in February 2020. The chorus is open for participation by qualified High School students, adults and seniors who have past experience and a passion for singing. The chorus performs no less than twice a year at the culmination of each session: Fall/Winter (SeptDec) and Spring (Jan-April) and enjoys a break over the summer months. They have performed large scale concerts, singing with an orchestra, and most recently kicked off the Christmas season to an audience of nearly 800. We are delighted for the success of this group and invite residents to audition and to support us in the audience.

The chorus is directed by Karen Mabry Lewis, a veteran choral music educator from the Dallas area who obtained her BM degree with a concentration in Voice from Belmont University and a MM degree from SMU in Music Education and Vocal Performance.
