Laurie Swindull '84: While attending Wayland, we were all forced to mature faster because of the given responsibilities. Learning ski ll s such as how to live with a room mate and how to manage time well are invaluable. Ultimately, however, the Wayland environment helped me to realize my strengths and limitations. I know how hard to push myself and when to relax , an insight which shall help me for the rest of my life.

Dave Towner '85: Wayland Academy made the transition into college life much easier. While attending Wayland 1 was inundated with interesting experiences. Sitting with Dan Kraut '85 and Ben Scherer '85 in assembly made singing the Wayland alma mater an interesting experience. Sitting in the back row for Chapel and Assembly gave me the advantage of being able to study a few extra minutes for the upcoming exam. But more seriously, Wayland taught me how to effectively manage my time . Now, I don't need to rely on that extra study time in Chapel; I am able to plan my college studying accordingly, and still have time for fun .

Chip Hiestand '85: Alii know is what I have learned at Wayland Academy- both useful and useless. I learned that the first and last five pages of a book are the on ly real important ones, and if you sleep sitting up with your eyes open, you don't need to sleep at night. Away from Wayland. people do th ings differently. It was quite amazing to find ou t that most people wear the knot of their necktie close to their neck. not at their waist . I learned where to get a good deal on large white banners and license pla tes. Although I sometimes thought I had to do too much acedemia. it was to those circumstances above and to Wayland Academy which I owe any small achievements I have accomplished, and I know I would not change a thing.
