WATERKLOOF PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER 7 – 2016

17 November 2016

Mrs S.C. Monyai Thank you to all the parents, learners, teachers and administrative staff for the hard work done in preparation for our end of year examinations.

Recycling The school has won a prize of R 5000 for recycling in 2016 and a special thank you goes to Mrs Eagle, the recycling monitors, teachers, parents and learners who recycle. We aim to win a better place, and prize, in 2017! Let’s all recycle!

Mrs Lubbe It will be Mrs Lubbe’s last day at Waterkloof Primary School on 30 November 2016. We thank her and wish her well in the future. School closes for the December holiday on 7 December 2016. Reports will be issued at 10:00. No reports will be issued before or after 10:00. All reports not collected at 10:00 will be posted.

Box Car Derby Shee

Mrs

J.

Congratulations and thank you to the PTA for a wonderful Box Car Derby. It was a fantastic, fun-filled day that was enjoyed enormously by all who attended. Our parents and teachers who arranged the day worked incredibly hard to raise funds for our school. The RCL were absolutely amazing - we are proud of you all. Thank you to all parents who sent donations. Once the PTA have tallied all income and expenditure they will report to you what was raised on the day.

Spruit Cleanup Thank you to all the parents and children who arrived bright and early on Saturday, 15 October to clean the spruit - “many hands make light work” was shown to be factual. We started at 08:30 and were done by 10:00! The spruit was transformed by our efforts and many birds at the Austin Roberts Bird Park will have been saved thanks to this project - well done.

Children leaving WPS Parents of children not returning to WPS in 2016 must please notify the school in writing as soon as their decision not to return is final. Not returning the Re-registration Form is not sufficient notification that your child is not coming back in 2017.

Media Centre terrace grass

Mrs J. Shee

Thanks to the generosity of our parents we have artificial grass covering the dust bowl that had developed outside the Media Centre. This area has been transformed through this project. Please feel free to come along and see the difference you, through your support of fundraising projects, have made to our grounds. THANK YOU!

From the Sports Desk

Mrs J. de Beer

We have come to the end of a very busy sports year with many highs.

Interhouse Gala: - Unfortunately the Interhouse gala was rained out, but we were able to swim all the individual events which was indeed a blessing as all the children that had trained in the year for this event were recognised by means of a ribbon and/or trophy. We will not be swimming the relays this year and will award the Interhouse trophy according to the results at the end of the Individual events. The results of the gala are: 1st Saturn 185 points 2nd Jupiter 125 points 3rd Neptune 94 points 4th Mercury 63 points. Well done Saturn. The Interhouse cricket will take place after the exams.

We have a few individual results: Jarryd Camacho, Christian Stern, Uba Okonkwo, Andre Duvenhage and Rader Ketterman, our u 11 boys tennis team were the winners of the first term U/11 D1 League. Congratulations to these boys. Jarryd Camacho was U/10 boys’ runner-up at the Gauteng North Primary School’s Tennis Championships held during the October holidays. Georgia Kennealy received an honorary award from the Gauteng North Primary Schools’ Tennis Association as a member of the Primary Schools’ A-Team. Ontiretse Magadzi was acknowledged at the Jacaranda Children’s’ Choir Prizegiving as the “NEWBY OF THE YEAR” Zizi Qubu and Owami Kumalo both received distinctons in their Cecchetti Classical Ballet Exams and Kuhle Qubu passed her Intermediate Cecchetti Classical Ballet Exams.
