ART EXPLORATION: PAINTING & SCULPTURE COURSE DESCRIPTION In this course, students will learn the fundamental skills of both painting and sculpture. In the first quarter, techniques, color and texture will be explored using media such as watercolor, tempera and acrylic paints. Students will have the opportunity to create representational images such as a landscapes and still life, as well as abstract paintings that are about color, brush strokes and expression. The second half of the course will focus on building 3D sculptures using a variety of materials, such as paper mache, plaster, wire, celluclay, collage and recycled materials. Students will begin to explore the qualities of each material and their application. No previous experience required.
