Dog Sledding Through Greenland Have you ever thought about what dog sledding would be like? Or ever wanted to travel to Greenland?

Well, here is your opportunity to mix both of them together. Want Expeditions is planning a trip to Greenland, which would allow you to get as close to a real dog sledding expedition as possible.

During this wildlife and nature travel you will get to experience many different things along the way.

First, we will all arrive at Ilulissat, also known as Jakobshavn, in the afternoon around 2:50pm. The town is called Jakobshavn because the founder's name was Jakob Severin. The city is only the 3rd biggest in Greenland with a mere 4,500 people living here.

While traveling in Greenland there are private residences that are being rented out to tourists. However, they are far from luxurious, but they do have the basic amenities including beds, kitchen, bathrooms with hot water and even heat. There will be an opportunity to explore the city once you have checkedin and dropped your luggage.

Then, the next day the hunters will arrive and bring their dog sleds and their guns that will be shooting blanks. They will also bring along everything we need to camp at the end of the day including very warm blankets made of fur and canvas tents. The beds will be constructed of 2 dog sleds that are put together.

We will most likely follow the sea for quite some time and allow you to be able to spot any marine wildlife that might be frolicking around the area. However, we might also spot some polar bears and choose to follow them for a while. During this time we will indeed be traveling by dog sled, so we can enjoy the views and the freedom.

Along the way the hunters will show us what a real hunt would be like, but no animals will be killed during our trip. We will chase after polar bears and other wildlife like we were actually hunting them down.
