• The Washington National Primate Research Center (WaNPRC) has been a part of the University of Washington research community since 1961 and has noted significant accomplishments over the decades. WaNPRC core services consist of: Computational and Data Analysis, High Throughput and Molecular Profiling, Instrumentation Services, Vector and Cell Processing, and Virology and Immunology. Some key accomplishments highlighting their four units of scientific excellence include; designing and developing implants for deafness, developing a new strategy leading to HIV vaccine in human trials, developing a novel technique to make leukemia and lymphoma cells respond to therapy, performing studies leading to a deeper understanding of Parkinson’s disease, and founding the first nonhuman primate natural habitat breeding facility on Tinjil Island, Indonesia as well as establishing programs in eight other countries.
