Company, Creative Team & Cast Cahoots NI Children’s Theatre Company Directed by Paul Bosco McEneaney, Music by Garth McConaghie Cahoots NI is a professional children’s touring theater company based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The company, which was formed in 2001 by Paul Bosco McEneaney and Zoe Seaton, concentrates on the visual potential of theater and capitalizes upon the ageold popularity of magic and illusion as essential ingredients in the art of entertaining. Each production is at the center of a body of outreach work designed to maximize artistic potential, customize the individual theater experience and extend the imaginative life of the piece beyond the actual event. PAUL BOSCO MCENEANEY - Director Paul Bosco McEneaney is from County Armagh, Northern Ireland and is the founding member and Artistic Director of Cahoots NI Theatre Company, which began in Belfast in 2001. Recent directing credits include Nivelli’s War, The Incredible Book Eating Boy, The Snail and the Whale, Leon and the Place Between and The Great Carmo. His recent writing credits include Egg, The Family Hoffmann’s Mystery Palace, The Magic Hat, The Blizzard Wizard, A Fairy’s Tale and The Star Catcher. Paul is the current secretary of Theatre for Young Audience, the U.K. division

of the International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People. Cahoots NI uses magic and illusion as an integral part of its productions for children. Paul has worked extensively as an illusion consultant and designer and is the former Chair of the Ulster Society of Magicians. Paul has many acting credits and was nominated for the prestigious Ian Charleson Award and received a Commendation from the National Theatre London for his performance in A Midsummer Nights Dream at the Lyric Theatre. The Belfast Metropolitan College honored Paul recently with an Award of Distinction for his contribution to the Arts in Northern Ireland. GARTH MCCONAGHIE - Composer & Sound Designer Recently featured at the BAFTA Rocliffe Forum, Garth’s TV work includes the BBC Comic Relief film, Malaria (Flickerpix Animations, Richard Curtis.), which was broadcast worldwide at the 2010 FIFA World Cup Closing Ceremony. Other TV work includes “Days like This” nominated for IFTA, “Wee Wise Words,” “Galactic Racer,” “Not Now Farley” (BBC Learning Zone), “On the Air” and “A


Year in Sex City” (DoubleB and BBC). Garth was the co-writer/producer/ arranger for Blessed Be the One—a record for Joanne Cash and Malachi Cush, which reached #1 in the NCM Charts in the U.S. Recent theater work includes Grace Online, A Song for Eurydice and Macbeth for Youth Music Theatre U.K. and There Must Be More (from Grace Online), which was published by Faber/Trinity and included in their intermediate level musical theater book for singing examinations. Garth scored the film, Casa De Vidro, which was exhibited at the Architecture Museum in Switzerland and later transferred to the Pavilion d’Arsenal in Paris. Recent work for Cahoots NI includes Egg, A Spell of Cold Weather, Duck, Death and the Tulip and Nivelli’s War. Other theater work includes The Scarlet Wwweb (Big Telly), Forget Turkey in 2012 and 2013 (Lyric Theatre, Belfast), Mistletoe & Crime, (Lyric Theatre, Belfast), Sometimes There’s Light [Sometimes There’s Dark] (Moving Dust) and Ulster Volunteers (RTE). HUGH W. BROWN - Cast Hugh W. Brown lives around half the year in Northern Ireland and the rest in Cambodia. He is an actor with 20 years of experience, specializing in theater, circus, music and clown arts. In Ireland, Hugh has worked mostly with Cahoots NI and enjoyed great success helping to create—and performing in—Egg and Duck, Death And The Tulip. In Cambodia, he developed a “Theater in Education” show to promote a Clean and Green Campaign and is currently producing and performing in the movie

Inside The Belly Of A Dragon, which follows a clown’s journey throughout the kingdom of Cambodia and the rich variety of people, places and art he encounters on the way. DAVID QUINN - Cast David Quinn comes from County Tyrone and spent time studying under Philippe Gaulier in Paris as well as training at L’Ecole International de Theatre Jacques Lecoq. He’s worked extensively with the Northern Ireland Clown Doctors and has been involved with their ongoing training program. Most recently, David has developed a keen interest in children’s theater, working alongside Cahoots NI in productions such as The Great Carmo, A Spell of Cold Weather and Egg. David is currently using his bouffon skills, which he discovered in Paris, to create a nonverbal bouffon show for adult and young audiences. Other theater roles include Spill Bucket in Victorian Waterworks directed by Paddy Scully (Young at Art Festival), Joe in Philadelphia Here I Come (U.K. and Irish Tour) and Fred in Christmas Carol (Riverside Theatre). David also performed in numerous radio plays for RTE Radio and worked with Tinderbox Theatre Company with their New Writers Lab and script development, and Prime Cut Productions on their Directors Lab. CRAIG PAINTING - Cast Craig Painting trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London and in his final year was awarded The Carlton Television Bursary from the Laurence Olivier Bursary Panel of the Society of London Theatre. Craig first


worked with Cahoots NI performing in Egg, touring the U.K. in 2012 and later playing at the prestigious IPAY festival in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania during 2014. Other theater work includes a sitespecific performance of Elizabeth Inchbald’s The Massacre at Dilston Grove, London; Sleeping Beauty at The Mercury Theatre; The Jungle Book and The Firework-Maker’s Daughter for The Birmingham Stage Company at The Bloomsbury Theatre and U.K. tour; Pinocchio (title role), Days of Hope and Pandora’s Box at MAC; Humbug, Flathampton, Smashed Eggs and What Makes Us Tick at The

Royal and Derngate; Macbeth: Kill Bill Shakespeare U.K. tour; and Aladdin at Oxford Playhouse. TV credits include “Casualty” and “Doctors” for BBC and the Hotels4u. com 2014 TV campaign, plus a host of other unusual commercials in the U.K. and Europe.
