Friends of Civic Arts Education Foundation Arts Teacher Advocates for Civic Arts The Friends Foundation is committed to advocating for the arts, so that classes and programs can help shape the artistic lives of students of every age. One of our favorite success stories is Laney Deatsch, an avid arts student and now Pleasant Hill middle school art teacher. Her early artistic inspiration in Civic Arts led to a career in teaching and advocating for the arts. “I started Civic Arts when I was five years old” she remembers. “It was great exposure to the arts that I wasn’t getting anywhere else.” “I would encourage people to try a class that they’ve never thought of trying before” she says.
