This project presents a small expansion library in the city of St. Andrews, Scotland. The design aims to create a confortable yet functional spaces where students can get a variety of study and reading areas. The shape and the materials of the building were chosen to blend well in the historic city center.

Combining the concepts of Home Club and Sustainability, This apartment building was desinged to adapt to different types and sizes of families while also using a variety of eco-friendly strategies. This project aimed to achieve two main goals: The creation and revitalization of public spaces and improve the connection of the local communities to the lake nearby, throguh improvements in physical and visual accesses. In addition to the cultural center, it was proposed the creation of a pier for renting boats and diverse public equipments in the site area.

The intervention in the old port zone in Fortaleza, Brazil was named ‘Masterplan Porto da Prainha’’, in which after an extensive diagnosis it allowed us the creation of guidelines to solve the issues and highlight the possibilities of the area.

STREET FAIR The first strategy adopted was to reuse some of the old sheds which were already in the site to relocate the stree fairs that happen illegally on the sidewalks. The Sheds will turn into a shopping/selling complex with dinning and other facilities and will attract more people to the coast.
SQUARES The other goal was to create a central square and other facilities such as sports courts and green areas. The different floor material and colours guide the visitants to the diverse spaces.
MUSEUM The preservation of the local port history will be reinforced with the creation of the Port Museum, using one of the old abandoned ships at the place.

SKATE PARK As a common practice for the teens from nearby communities, a skateboarding practise space was created nearby the parking facilities.
RESEARCH CENTER The shed closest to the coast is proposed to be kept and used as a research centre for the federal university. Using the natural uneveness of the site, a lowered square was created preserving the existing rails in the area.
NEW PIERS The main Piers were restaured to allow the practise of diving and other water sports, as well as serving as transport to other pars of the coast.

The Proposal was to revitalize an urban square, reconecting it to the stream nearby and giving it a range of uses requested by the community such as sports court, kid’s playground, a kiosk and plenty of open space and relaxing areas, also using local Plant Species.

This thesis proposes a new look at the one of Fortaleza’s biggest canals which crosses the community of Lagamar. The design combine different landscaping, drainage and urban planning strategies to reveal the potential of the spaces alongside the urban waters.
