Alumnotes ful food. It was on the college farm that Vanoy met the Dietrich’s daughter, and it was “love at first sight”. He was a “goner,” and 42 years later he has no regrets. The happy couple has six children, Velona att., Vicki ’93, Valden, Vaughn ’92, Voree att., and Vonni; and five grandchildren.

1970s Ruth (Buckmiller) Bacon-Cross ’ 71 and her husband, Fred, reside in Scottsdale, Ariz., where she is a registered nurse for Banner Home Care. After her first husband passed away, Ruth moved to the Northwest with her four children where she spent 10 years working in Pendleton, Ore., as a public heath nurse. During that time, she attended classes at WWC to earn her nursing degree. Ruth also spent a few years working as a nurse in the Marshall Islands at Majuro Adventist School. After her missionary work, she moved to Arizona to be with her mother. There she met and married Fred in 1990. Ruth has four children, Steve Bacon att., Beverly Lucno, Ronald Bacon ’ 80, and Ellen Bacon; and one grandson, Gregory Bacon ’05. Larry Clements ’76 and his wife, Caryn, make their home in Shelton, Neb. Larry is the financial vice president at Platte Valley Academy. He enjoys gardening and reading in his free time. He writes, “The Lord brought me back to this church in 1994, and I will ever be grateful to Him for the wonderful work He has done in my life and is continuing to do. Praise His holy name.” From his time at WWC, Larry remembers the great Saturday night programs in the gym and the wonderful teachers he appreciated: Paul Joice, Ray Fowler, Jake Mehling, Robert Kappel, Joyce Rigsby, and Alden Thompson. Larry and Caryn have two sons, David and John. Cyndee Darby ’76 is living in Sandpoint, Idaho. Cyndee is self-employed and works as a licensed professional counselor. She has two children, Josh and Daniel Glidden. Carol Dodge ’71 and her husband, Gary, reside in Battleground, Wash. Carol is the administrative assistant for the North Pacific Union Office of Education. They have

two children, Brendan ’99 and Heather ’98. One thing that reminds Carol of WWC is Foreman Hall, which opened in 1971. She was on the 7th floor with her good friend and roommate. Angela Haven ’71 is living in the Bahamas. She is currently the human resource manager for an offshore bank and trust company in Nassau, The Bahamas, where she has been employed for the past 17 years. She has two twin girls, Anjanette and Anjanelle. Angela loves to read, sew, bake, and travel. Dana Reedy ’76 and his wife, Rhonda, are living in Corbett, Ore. He is a transmissionplanning manager at Northwest Power Pool. They have three children, Rachel att., Dallas ’06, and Danielle curr. att.

the doors for me to attend WWC and has given me many opportunities in many areas of my life.” Twyla’s greatest joys in her life are God, her loving husband, and her children, Bridget, curr. att. and Bryson. She had several accomplishments at WWC; one of them was being the first female president of ASWWC during the 1980-81 school year. She then went to Dallas, Texas, for the 1980 General Conference Session, where she was asked to give opening pray and was the only woman sitting on the platform with the entire administration, including president and vice presidents. Springs, Mich. Carol is a homecare manager for eight hospitals with the Lakeland Homecare Management Company. She and Dennis have three children, Kristin Ivany, Kelsey, and Kyla.

1980s Twyla Leiske Bechtel ’81 and her husband, Stanley ’84, are living in College Place, Wash. She is a realtor for Petersen Properties. She had many life-changing experiences at WWC. When she was 15 years old she decided to give her heart to the Lord, and asked if He would lead her in years to come. She says, “He opened

Gardens, Fla. He is busy running a 150person engineering design and MFG aerospace firm. After his WWC experience, he became a mechanical designer for general mechanics for McDonnell Douglas Space Station, where his designs are now in orbit. James and Gina have one daughter, Michelle. He says, “The older I get the more I appreciate all the staff at WWC, especially the engineering teachers.” Sharon Cole ’86 and her husband, Mark, live in Millersville, Md. She is the project manager for Coreeley and Hansen. They have one child, Luke. Ken Comeau ’86 and his wife, Lisa (Ladd) ’87, are living in Williston, Vt. He is the principal mechanical design engineer at General Dynamics. They have two children, Jonathan and Jenna.

Marla (Unterseher) Danielson ’86 and her husband, Ronald ’81, are living in Aloha, Ore. Marla is a private music teacher. She has 12 students and teaches them either piano or guitar. She is the church organist and pianist at Forest Grove Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She has three children, Tracy, Troy, and Thomas. She writes that she misses Friday vespers at WWC. Beth (Brinker) Dilts ’86 and her husband, David, are retired and living in Walla Walla. Beth is a retired nursing home social worker. David and Beth have four children, Daniel, Dana Howell, Elie Johnson, and Danny. Laurel Dovich ’86 is living in College Place, Wash. She is working at WWC as a professor in engineering. She writes that she liked it so much she couldn’t stay away. She finds herself teaching impressionable young minds. Since graduating she has spent time as a consulting structural engineer in Michigan, Washington, and Alaska, and has spent time teaching in Jamaica, Michigan, and now at WWC. During graduate school she specialized in seismic reinforced-concrete structural design and was recently named Fellow by the American Concrete Institute. In her spare time, she tries to stay fit, loves to travel, and goes backpacking as much as possible Dietmar Grellmann ’86 and his wife, Audra, are living in El Dorado Hills, Calif. He is currently working as vice president and legislative council for the California Hospital Association. They have two children, Annaliese and Andreas. Doug Iwasa ’86 and his wife, Angela, are living in Ontario, Ore. He currently works at TRC Inc. as a Customer Relations Consultant. He is involved in community service organizations and a member of the development committee at Gem State Academy. He enjoys golfing, fishing, and traveling with his wife. Life-changing experiences for Doug include getting married in 2002 at the age of 41 and starting a family.
