Wai Yan Oo (born 1996) is a Burmese architect who works as an architect at Kengo Kuma and Associates. He received a Master of Engineering in Architecture from (I-AUD) International Program in Architecture and Urban Design at Meiji University, Japan. He received MEXT (Japanese Government Scholarship) and (MUIS) Meiji University Incentive Scholarship from AY 2019-2021 throughout his academic period. His master's thesis focuses on the new affordable resettlement housing that is designated for the informal settlement community in Myanmar to create a new system and typologies for those living in informal settlements both financially and economically. He believes Architecture is the symbiosis between society and nature. He inspires Architecture from the life-sustaining cycle and biogeochemical cycles to emphasize the principle of changeability, adaptability, flexibility, continuity, and sustainability.
