Health LIVE LONGER: Sustained physical activity could add years to life, a study of more than 12,000 elderly WA men found. Researchers found 150 minutes of vigorous activity a week added two to three years to the lives of those men who stayed active for the duration of the 13-year study, HealthCanal.com reported. ‘FAT LETTERS’: Schools in 19 US states had started to conduct annual weigh-ins that tested for Body Mass Index, Medical Daily reported. Their measurements were then sent home to parents as reports, which noted whether or not the child was overweight. Kids had started calling the reports “fat letters”, Fox News reported.

Business GROWTH UP: Australia reported betterthan-forecast growth for the April to June quarter, boosted by gains in consumer spending. GDP grew 2.6% in the quarter, from a year earlier. Compared with the previous quarter, growth was 0.6%. Most forecasts were for annual growth closer to 2.5%, BBC.co.uk reported. GOING CHEAP: Houses were more affordable than at any time in the past decade, Real Estate Institute of Australia research claimed. According to the research, housing affordability had improved in the past two years with the proportion of income to meet repayments now sitting at 28.7%, News Corp reported.
