Yak 52 team

The Yak 52 has become a favourite warbird in the contemporary aviation scene. Designed in 1976 as a Soviet trainer, after the end of the Cold War the peppy two seater became available to western aviators.

Several have been brought into NZ, where its fully aerobatic capabilities have made it a star. New Plymouthbased Brett Emeny has been instrumental in bringing together a number of Yak 52 aerobatic-quali ed pilots as a display team, and for over 10 years they have appeared during every air show season, including many of our Wings Over Wairarapa.
