Waiata Maori Music Awards Trust

Waiata magazine was launched in May, 2011 as a vehicle to support the Maori Music Awards. It is a 32-page glossy magazine published twice each year. The e-magazine version of Waiata was launched in October, 2012, to increase readership to online viewers. There are 3000 hard copies of the magazine printed and distributed to music shops around New Zealand. The awards ceremony is held annually, in September, at the Hawke's Bay Opera House in Hastings, New Zealand. The Waiata Māori Music Awards seeks to develop, encourage and honour the achievements of outstanding traditional and contemporary musical compositions and performances annually. This is the most prestigious music awards ever to acknowledge our Māori composers. This year will see our awards ceremony held on Friday, 14 September 2012 at the Hawkes Bay Opera House in Hastings.
