Note: Edward Burtynsky is widely regarded as one of Canada’s most respected and celebrated photographers. Born in St. Catharines, Ontario in 1955, Burtynsky holds both a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Photography from Ryerson University and a Graphic Arts degree from Niagara College. His works are included in the collections of major museums around the world, including the National Gallery of Canada, the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris, the MoMA and the Guggenheim. In 2006 he was awarded the title of Officer of the Order of Canada and given an honorary Doctor of Laws from Queen’s University in Kingston. He has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia and is represented by numerous prominent galleries, both nationally and abroad.
