Spend the Day on the Rivers Take advantage of the outdoor recreational activities Downtown Waco has to offer. From family fishing trips and strolls along the riverwalk to kayaking and paddle boarding, the Brazos and Bosque rivers are ideal for family adventures.

T-MAD (Teens Making A Difference)

Get the help you need from experienced tutors in all subjects. Bilingual instruction available, space limited.

T-MAD is a club involving teens in activities to help them utilize their talents and education, while working within the community. Activities include college visits, job and college application assistance, social events and more!

Certified Nurse’s Aide Classes In collaboration with University of Texas at Arlington, students learn the skills to become certified nurses’ aides in the medical field. A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT �ctually, it’s even be�er�two rivers run through it. �e Bosque and the Brazos rivers wind their way through Waco & the Heart of Texas, forming two of the boundaries to the glorious 416 acres of Cameron Park’s hike & bike trails, picnic and playground areas, and breathtaking lookouts over the countryside of central Te�as. �e rivers themselves offer a wealth of recreational opportunities, including stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking on the Bosque Bluffs and Brazos Bridges paddling trails, top-rate waterskiing conditions (complete with riverside stands for competition-level skiing), and horse trails along the river’s edge. �e Bosque leads to Lake Waco, the largest city lake in the US, where �shing, boating, and swimming opportunities abound. Time to take a dip in the waters of Waco.

Visit the Waco Mammoth National Monument this spring and summer for an educational journey in to the lives of Columbian Mammoths. The mammoth site includes tours, a gift shop and a variety of educational activities.

Dubl-R Fields at Riverbend Park With eight fields along the Bosque River, Dubl-R Fields at Riverbend Park is the best place for softball and baseball action in Central Texas. The facility plays host to softball leagues on weeknights and softball and baseball tournaments on the weekends.

There is a “Slow, No Wake” zone in the following areas: - On Lake Brazos, between the Waco Drive Bridge and 200 yards from the low water dam, just past McLane Stadium - In the area of the Brazos Park East boat ramp, between the mouth of the Bosque River and the MLK Jr., Blvd. Bridge. - On the Bosque River, between Brazos Park East and the Lakeshore Drive Bridge.

Recreational water sports (ie. wakeboarding, water skiing, tubing) are only allowed upstream on the Brazos River, starting at MLK, Jr. Blvd. Bridge.

It is prohibited to create a wake or wash that is hazardous to other watercraft or person while on Lake Brazos.

Cameron Park University Parks Drive and Herring Avenue One of the largest municipal parks in Texas, Cameron Park is a Waco treasure. More than 20 miles of hike and bike trails weave through natural vegetation and limestone cliffs to provide stunning views of the Waco area. A variety of recreation spots, environmental areas and scenic overlooks are located throughout the park, which recently received more than $7 million in renovations.

Brazos Park East 2000 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Overlooking the convergence of the Bosque and Brazos rivers, Brazos Park East features breathtaking cliff-front scenery. The park is a mix of trees and open fields and includes horseshoe pits, a disc golf course, boat docks and fishing spots.

Cameron Park Disc Golf Course Cameron Park/Brazos Park East With towering trees, open fields and a waterfront view, Waco is home to two of Texas’ best disc golf courses. Played with a Frisbee-like disc, disc golf is a fun and free activity for all ages.

Cameron Park Zoo 1701 N. 4th Street Escape into the wild and explore the new Asian Forest exhibit at Cameron Park Zoo. The zoo is adjacent to the Brazos River and encompasses 52 acres of lush native vegetation. Party and meeting packages available.

Cotton Belt Trail Highway 84 / Harris Creek Road Head to the new Cotton Belt Trail for an amazing hike, bike or run! The 2.5 mile trail is located atop an old rail line along Highway 84 and crosses the South Bosque River. Trail access points are located off of Harris Creek Road and Hannah Hill Road. Cottonwood Creek Golf Course 5200 Bagby With an 18-hole championship course, a junior course, driving range and a fully stocked shop, Cottonwood Creek Golf Course is Waco’s home for golf. The course is open daily and offers a variety of memberships, leagues and tournaments.

Indian Spring Park and Suspension Bridge 100 University Parks Dr. Indian Spring Park and the Suspension Bridge exemplify the spirit of Waco. The park features the historic bridge, which was built in 1870, and the new Chisholm Trail statues. The park also features an amphitheater that overlooks the Brazos River. Located in the heart of downtown, the park is ideal for a picnic or a stroll along the river. Available for rental. Heritage Square 3rd Street and Austin Avenue Heritage Square links downtown and the Brazos River with walkways, fountains and landscaping. The square serves as a community gathering place that hosts a variety of special events and beautifies the downtown area. Available for rental. Martin Luther King Jr. Park 100 Martin Luther King Blvd. On the east banks of the Brazos, Martin Luther King Jr. Park features picnic areas, a riverwalk and an overlook tower of downtown Waco. The park also features a lighted mural of Martin Luther King Jr. painted by local artist Ira Watkins.

Waco Riverwalk and Cameron Park Trails Along the Brazos River Stretching along both sides of the river, from Baylor University to Cameron Park, the Waco Riverwalk and trails are ideal for a scenic stroll, a refreshing jog or a cruise on a bike. The riverwalk includes concrete paths along both sides of the river. More than 20 miles of soft-surface hike and bike trails wind through the Cameron Park trail system, which is designated as a National Recreation Trail. Waco Mammoth Site 6220 Steinbeck Bend The Waco Mammoth Site sits in more than 100 acres of wooded parkland. The site features a climate-controlled dig shelter and a suspended walkway that provides visitors with an overhead view of several specimens, including a large bull mammoth and a camel that lived in Central Texas approximately 68,000 years ago. Dubl-R Fields at River Bend Park 1001 Lakeshore Drive Dubl-R Fields at River Bend Park is a state-of-the-art baseball/softball complex with eight lighted fields and top-notch facilities. The park offers league play and attracts statewide and regional teams for weekend tournaments. Waco Regional Tennis and Fitness Center 900 Lakeshore Drive Waco Regional Tennis and Fitness Center is a premiere tennis venue featuring 18 lighted courts, including a 1,500-seat championship court, and a pro shop. The fitness center is complete with equipment, programs and a sports bar.


2 8 AT T R ACT ION S Bledsoe-Miller Park and Community Center 300 Martin Luther King Blvd. Bledsoe-Miller Park is a riverfront area next to the Suspension Bridge. The park features a pavilion, a new playground, soccer field and fishing dock. Bledsoe-Miller Community Center, which has a wellness room, gym, game room and meeting room, is also in the park. South Waco Community Center 2815 Speight The newly renovated South Waco Community Center is now open to the public. With more than 30,000 sq. ft. of room, South Waco Community Center provides an abundance of opportunities and activities for youth and the surrounding community. The center features new meeting rooms, workout equipment and more.

Dewey Community Center 925 N. 9th Street (*Currently under renovation) Located in Dewey Park, Dewey Community Center offers educational and entertainment opportunities for the surrounding community. Available for rental.
