ROYS CELEBRATES DONATING OVER £45K TO CHARITY IN 2021

The past year has been tough for everyone and charities have been affected especially hard. A lack of donations and an exceptional demand from those in need has left a shortfall for many organisations caring for our communities. Roys has been helping alleviate some of the shortfall in funds by donating to those groups in need. The company has donated to 179 charities and good causes in 2021 totalling over £45,000. Paul Roy Buying and Marketing Director comments, “Roys were able to donate to 179 charities and good causes during the year, these include the stores chosen charities of the year, almost 20 from the Making a Difference Locally Fund and over 100 in responses to requests for help. We’re very lucky to be in a position to be able to help the communities that have kept the business growing over the past 125 years. The teams in each store choose their charity of the year, often they are charities that are close to their hearts for many reasons. The money donated is not also a way of saying thank you to the charities and our customers but also to our ever hardworking team members.” The charities of the year took home a share of £29,156. This money was raised through the sale of 10p carrier bags in stores, the East Anglian Air Ambulance received a massive £10,378 from Wroxham Food hall. Other Charity of the Year donations include £1675 to Nelson’s Journey from Roys of Beccles, £1333 to The Bridge in Sudbury from Roys of Sudbury and £5121 to Priscilla Bacon Hospice from Roys of Bowthorpe. The Making a Difference locally donations totalled £10,250. This money was raised through the sale of grocery products in store and was donated to local charities and good causes in the surrounding areas that need financial help for projects beneficial to the community. In 2021 donations varied from £100 to £1000 to groups such as Ludham Primary School, The Clare School, St Luke’s Church Centre and 1st Dereham Scout Group. “We are always looking for charities and good causes that are in need of help, if you are part of a group looking for funds and are situated within 10 miles of a Roys store then please do get in touch by sending an email to enquiries@roys.co.uk” - Paul Roy.

WROXHAM AND HOVETON LIONS CLUB

Did you know that Lions are at the forefront in helping those less fortunate through disaster, hunger and conflict worldwide? Clubs achieve this through contributions, when requested, to the Lions Clubs International Foundation. This foundation allocates funds only to local Lions Clubs where people are in most need. It is currently, via Lions clubs in Romania and Poland, helping provide refugees from the conflict in Ukraine, with initial care packages which include food, water, hygiene items and clothing. Our club has supported local, national, and international causes for over 44 years and will continue to do so with your help. If you would like to take those first steps into joining our team, we’ll be happy to see you on one of our Zoom meetings.
