Page 1

On holiday, the bathroom should feel like a sanctuary. Imagine a 5 star hotel bathroom at your home…. Your own corner where you can soak away stress and relax…

We’ve selected 14 Steps to inspire the direction of a 5 Star Hotel Bathroom

1.

NATURAL MATERIALS

Opting for natural materials such as timber and stone will introduce warmth, ambience and texture to your bathroom, creating an earthy look that is both functional and stylish.

2. FLOATING VANITY Vanities have long been considered a functional piece in the bathroom, providing storage and a place to house the basin. However, its value as a furnishing element has seen the vanity evolve into a centerpiece to inspire homeowners. Cue floating vanities – the fast-track way to refresh and modernize a bathroom space. Simply hung from the wall, the floating vanity offers a clean and modern line that save on space, making it the perfect solution for smaller bathroom.

3. RAIN STYLE SHOWER As more innovative choices in showerheads pop up, the trend continues towards heightened design and aesthetics. The new generation of luxury showerheads boast both beauty and function. The large rain-type ceiling fittings remain the most desirable. With the most water coverage, they produce different types of ‘rain’ while mixing water with air and light.

4. CONCEALED TOILET Concealed toilets are popular choices for hotel bathrooms. A concealed-cistern toilet can either be wall faced, which sits directly on the floor, or wall hung, leaving the floor space underneath visible. Wall-hung toilets generally make a bathroom layout appear larger, but they may need additional support to hold their, and your, weight. The toilet is flushed via buttons on the wall behind, and these can be installed up to four metres from the cistern, making them ideal for disabled users. 5. TILED SHOWER SHELF Hotels are relaxing partly because they are free of clutter. You can create this tidy look by building in a tiled shelf in your shower or above your vanity. A tiled shower shelf creates a neat and tidy way to store your bathroom products by creating a shelf in your shower wall. It makes use of your wall space and saves you having your products on the floor or in a shower rack. Adding a shelf and storing extra toiletries can eliminate clutter to keep your bathroom looking clean and chic.

6. FRAMELESS SHOWER SCREEN Enhance your bathroom with a custom made frameless shower screen. Frameless shower screens give a bathroom the look of luxury and a style that is timeless. Frameless shower screens used to be only found in five star hotels, and then they entered into the top end of the residential property market. Today however as they have become more affordable and are now a must for any renovated bathroom. 7. MARBLE TILING If you’re looking to glam up your outdated bathroom but still keep it functional why not try white marble tiling or for a cheaper alternative cultured marble with the added benefit of stain-resistance. Pair it with accessories for some warmth and sophistication. Remember to spend where you can because quality is always stylish.

8. TILE TRICKS

Tiles have moved miles from the boring white squares of old. These days, they come in all shapes, sizes, finishes, colors and materials. The only limit is your imagination. Tiling is the main part of your bathroom because it elicits the biggest reaction.

Large, rectified porcelain tiles are a design favorite right now. They have a perfectly squared edge, they can be tricky to lay. Floor to ceiling tiling is very popular in hotel bathrooms and can make a bathroom feel bigger. However, in bathrooms with tall ceilings the effect can be opposite.

9. INTERIOR LIGHTING

Interior lighting in the bathroom seems to be given the least consideration when renovating. Bathrooms are increasingly becoming a place to relax and recharge, spending a little more time and effort to invest in lighting can pay off dramatically. Vertical fixtures or sconces mounted on either side of the mirror make an incredible difference in the appearance of the overall bathroom.

10. QUALITY TAPWARE Tap ware injects personality into a space and controls both the flow and the feel of the water. There are two basic styles – Three- piece sets (two taps and a spout) and mixer taps, where hot and cold mingle together through a cartridge inside the unit. Both are almost always made with chrome- plated brass and both can be wall or deck-mounted. While three- piece sets offer a traditional look, mixers are the more popular style and are simpler to maintain and keep clean. All taps sold in Australia must have a WELS (Water Efficiency Labeling and Standards) rating. The higher the WELS rating, the more water they conserve.

11. BATHTIME BLISS

Whether you see your bathroom as a pamper zone, a place to bathe your children or just a smart centerpiece, a bath is essential. Nowadays a freestanding bath is a bomb in the world of bathroom decoration. A drop-in bath is installed into a hob and only the top is visible and are very easy to use. A spa bath will create a tranquil spa-like ambience.

12. HOTEL BATHROOM ACCESSORIES Have you noticed that almost every hotel bathroom has a compact wall-mounted shelf for open towel storage? These are called hotel shelves or train racks, and they are a great option for accessible towel storage without taking up much space. These clever shelves add the look and the convenience of an upscale hotel bath right in your own home and rolled towels can be decorative when they're stacked on the shelf. By having accessories such as the racks, towel bars, magnifying mirrors and glass shelves will bring that hotel style bathroom atmosphere.

13. YOUR FAVOURITE QUALITY TOILETERIES Go ahead and treat yourself to some luxurious bath products in irresistible miniature containers: aromatic bath foams, exfoliating soaps and spaquality shampoos in beautiful packaging. To display your tiny toiletries, arrange them with care on an amenity tray. It's not only neat and tidy, it's like a minibar for your bathtub.

14. SLIDING DOOR No matter what size your bathroom is, extra space is always a plus point. Many hotel designers use sliding doors to increase space in a bathroom. Not only will this be a fresh new addition to your space but you will gain additional space that was once taken by the door swing.
