Encouraged by the success of their water-sports company CAMARO Erich and Heide Roiser looked for another challenge and bought KOMPERDELL. From then on KOMPERELL went international and became one of the leading companies when it came to know-how and innovative technologies concerning ski- and trekking-poles. Production was transferred to Mondsee/Austria where it still is and provides employment for over 100 locals.

This decade was dedicated to developing extra light poles for Alpine skiing and mountaineering. With the new suspension systems (Anti-shock on/off) as well as exclusive grip-concepts (contour grip) KOMPERDELL drew a lot of international interest and our poles became one of the most wanted products world-wide.

Thomas Roiser becomes general manager of KOMPERDELL. He grew up in a family dedicated to sports and followed suit enthusiastically. Fully motivated and with the support of a young team of sports enthusiasts he continues with great success what his parents started.

For this coming season we dedicated our efforts to further optimise well established systems, to create new designs and find ingenious solutions for technical details. We do not sit back, we are fully motivated to offer you even better products in 2010.

Since the beginning of the nineties we have produced poles for the “Powder-snow skier.” This kind of skiing has become more extreme and daring and developed into “Freeriding”. Is there anything more beautiful than virgin deep powder slopes and protruding rocks in steep terrain. For the Freeride youngsters who are not quite as extreme, ski resorts built fun-parks, waiting to be conquered. Freeriding, the trendy and cool type of winter sports conquers the market.

As leading pole manufacturer we always focus on further development of our products. A satisfied consumer is our motivation to guarantee maximal performance with our improved POWER LOCK II.
IDEA We wanted to improve our tubes, even those with the smallest diameter (12mm). Comparative tests with our competitors showed that indeed there was room for improvement and we accepted the challenge and increased the values of the lowest segment of our telescopic poles. In season 2010 we have the strongest as well as thinnest tubes.
RESULT 20% MORE POWER of RESISTANCE with 15% SLIMMER TUBES lesser deflection at the same application of force thanks to a special heat treatment of the tube.

HOW DOES A PROTECTOR SAFEGUARD YOU? First and foremost a protector has to protect against the enormous energy of impact during a crash and it has to reduce it to a minimum. Not everything calling itself protector provides sufficient protection. Hard-shell protectors i.e. protect from injuries caused by rocks or sharp edged ridges, but the effect of cushioning is marginal.

If a protector is not approved by one of the 2 safety class systems it cannot be declared as CE-approved product. CE-NORM EN 1621-1 is the standard for joint protectors for motorcyclists CE-NORM EN 1621-2 is the standard for back protectors for motorcyclists
The shock test: at this test a weight of 5 kg falls onto the protectors from 1 metre above. The residual energy is measured, meaning the energy still hitting the body in spite of the protector and which can lead to severe injury if the person does not wear a protector. The smaller this value is, the better the protector. All KOMPERDELL protectors show values well below these legal values.

Basically the Seamless Bonding glove is made of a highly elastic 4-layer material, the outside layer being high-quality, elastic Nylon material. In the middle a high-performance membrane is responsible for water- and windtightness, as well as breathing ability. The membrane functions according to the following principle: when it’s warm, the membrane opens and the material becomes breathable – is it cold, the membrane closes and stores heat. A special ISOPREN-layer provides the material with optimal heat insulation. The highly functional lining, made of natural fibres, provides a comfortable, soft wearing quality.
