Illusion and lace gown with bateau neckline Claire Pettibone
Illusion touches were de riguer everywhere, with strategically placed
embellishments barely covering essential “hot spots.” One wondered how body parts remained concealed despite the see-through trend. As romance and sexy combined forces, marrying both into fantasy confections, it was clear that the
sheer trend that made its presence known several seasons ago has no sign of fizzing out any time soon.

Lace and illusion silk faille gown Anne Barge
Finally, there was a clear nod to the ‘Game of Thrones’ vibe, evident in several collections where crowns with gowns were topped off with everything from
cloaks and robes; capes and coats; to my personal favorite, the return of the
iconic Watteau train that started at the shoulders. Hair embellishments from the
same period included major hair extensions, clips, combs and wired wreaths, all festooned with gems, pearls and crystals fit for a queen.
