BJP, Congress spar over Headley's deposition in Ishrat case New Delhi / Mumbai (IANS): The BJP and the Congress on Thursday sparred after terroristturned-approver David Coleman Headley's court deposition that Ishrat Jahan -- shot dead in a shootout along with three others in 2004 -- was a Laskhar-eTaiba operative. While the Bharatiya Janata Party demanded an apology from Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi, the opposition party questioned attempts to justify the "fake" Ishrat Jahan encounter which it said were "not permissible by law". Ishrat, a 19-year-old college student, Pranesh Pillai alias Javed Gulam Sheikh, Amjad Ali Rana and Zeeshan Johar were killed on Ahmedabad's outskirts in an alleged shootout with the police on June 15, 2004. The police claimed that the four were LeT operatives plotting to assassinate the then Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi. " J a h a n wa s a n L e T m e m b e r, " P a k i s t a n American Headley said in his sensational disclosure while deposing before Special TADA Court Judge A. Sanap in Mumbai via videoconferencing from a US jail on Thursday. Headley said the 2008 Mumbai attack mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi told him about "a botched up

operation in India" of shooting at the police at a check-post in Gujarat. A LeT woman operative was involved, Headley sais while identifying her as Thane college student Ishrat Jahan, out of the three names -- Noorjehan Begum, Ishrat Jahan and Mumtaz Begum -- given by Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam. BJP leader Shrikant Sharma said in Delhi that Sonia and Rahul should tender an apology following Headley's testimony. "These Congress leaders should apologise to the nation and to the heroes who killed LeT terrorist Ishrat Jahan and her three accomplices," he said. "Instead of praising the brave policemen, questions we re ra i s e d o n t h e i r sincerity and they were put behind bars. Now the mask has come off their faces," Sharma said. He said the Congress hatched a conspiracy to politicise terror in order to defame the Bharatiya Janata

Party and Modi. On the other hand, Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari questioned the attempts to use Headley's testimony to justify the "fake" shootout. He said if the government wants to investigate further if Jahan and her accomplices we re L a s h k a r - e - Ta i b a operatives or not, there was nothing which stops it. "But the fundamental question remains: Whether Ishrat and her accomplices were killed in a fake encounter or not?" Tewari added. Tewari said even if a person is a terrorist, he needs to be arrested and needs to be brought to justice like parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. "But to try and justify a fake encounter, I am afraid, is something which the law does not permit," the Congress leader said. Headley's earlier testimony before a National Investigation Agency team in 2011 in the US claimed J a h a n wa s a L a s h k a r terrorist.

Is Youtube making money out of I&B ministry's content, HC asks Google New Delhi (IANS): The Delhi High Court on Tuesday asked Google Inc and Google India whether its video sharing site Youtube was making money out of content placed by the Indian information and broadcasting (I&B) ministry. A division bench of Justice B.D. Ahmed and Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva asked the counsel representing Google to take instruction in this regard and file an affidavit on the

issue. Advocate Virag Gupta, appearing for former BJP ideologue K.N. Govindacharya, who filed the PIL, told the court that the government has given rights to its contents to Google free of cost which he said was "illegal". He added that Google is using the same content to generate money through advertisements. To this, the bench said:

"Youtube is accessible to millions, so government is actually saving money. If the government is to telecast an event through Youtube, is it not a free of cost advertisement for it?" It also asked Additional Solicitor General Sanjay Jain to file affidavit on agreements that the central government has with other companies such as Facebook, Twitter and other social networking app like Whatsapp.

Bangladesh tough against drugs, human trafficking: Official Agartala (IANS): Bangladesh strongly follows a 'zero tolerance' policy against the drug menace, human trafficking and other border crimes, the country's home secretary Mohammad Mozammel Haque Khan said here on Wednesday. "Our government policy is 'zero tolerance' towards drug menaces, human trafficking and other border crimes. There is some unauthorised trespassing along the IndiaBangladesh border, but this is being jointly dealt with by the border guarding forces of the two countries," Khan told reporters. "When any kind of security and border-related issues arise, a home secretary level meeting tries to resolve these with mutual cooperation. We (India and Bangladesh) are regularly sharing inputs and information of any happenings, pos-

sible threats and act on those taking help from each other." Khan, who was accompanied by diplomats from the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, arrived here on Wednesday morning and left for Dhaka in the afternoon. He held meetings with officials of the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Agartala, and said he reviewed the process of machine-readable passports and visas there. He said that before reaching Dhaka, he would visit some border outposts of the Border Guard Bangladesh and other infrastructure along the borders. To a question, he said border-related incidents have come down sharply last year compared to previous year. Five Indian states -- West Bengal (2,216 km), Tripura (856 km), Meghalaya (443

Modi welcomed Sheikh Mohamed with a warm embrace as the latter alighted from the aircraft at the Palam Technical Area here. “A special welcome for a special friend. A slew of agreements, including on defence equipment manufacturing and civil nuclear cooperation, are likely to be signed between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during the crown prince's visit. After the India-UAE relationship was elevated to comprehensive strategic partnership during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the UAE in August last year, the first by an Indian prime minister in 34 years, there is focus on new areas of cooperation like defence production in India, security, counterterrorism, in nuclear and space sector, in energy sector, according to Anil Wadhwa, secretary (east) in the external affairs ministry. The welfare of the expatriate Indians in the United Arab Emirates, numbering around 2.6

million, is also likely to come up for discussion. After Saudi Arabia, the UAE hosts the highest number of Indians in the Gulf, 60 percent of whom are blue collar workers. This is the second highest level visit to India from the Gulf region after the visit of the emir of Qatar in March 2015. The region, which hosts seven million expatriate Indians and is an important source of remittances, has a strong bearing on India's security and stability in its neighbourhood. The UAE is the third largest trading partner of India after the US and China. It is also the sixth largest source of India's crude oil imports. This is the third visit to India by Sheikh Mohamed and the first in his capacity as crown prince.

Headley admits to getting terror funds from LeT, ISI Mumbai (IANS): The Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist-turned-approver David Coleman Headley here on Thursday revealed he received terror funds, which included counterfeit currency, from both the LeT and Pakistan’s ISI which was used for carrying out terrorrelated activity in India. Continuing his deposition via videoconferencing from a US jail before Special TADA Court Judge G.A. Sanap, Headley said that the funds came through both Major Iqbal of Pakistan’s Inter Service Intelligence and his main contact in LeT Sajid Mir, besides his LeT associate, medico Tahawwur Rana, currently undergoing a 14-year jail in the US. Rana had given an amount of around Rs.67,605 in October 2006, followed by $500 the next month (November 2006), another Rs.17,636 that month-end, and in December 2006, $1,000.

Besides, Headley said he had received $25,000 before he left for India, another Pakistani Rs.40,000 from Sajid Mir and Indian Rs.2000 from Major Iqbal that year, in January 2008, LeT’s Major Pasha gave Rs.80,000 while Major Iqbal gave another Rs.1,500. During questioning by Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, he said on one or two occasions, Major Iqbal had also given him counterfeit currency notes. Headley said Rana had visited Mumbai before the 26/11 terror attacks and was advised to leave for his own safety before they were actually executed. Earlier, Headley told the Mumbai Special TADA Court that the Reserve Bank of India had rejected his application seeking clearance to open a business account in June 2007. Making this revelation, Headley said

he had received funds for terror from both LeT and Pakistan’s ISI which was used for gathering intelligence and other works in India, including starting a business. With this funding, Headley said, he opened an office in south Mumbai’s Tardeo area on September 14, 2006 and the following month, on October 12, 2006, he even applied to Reserve Bank of India for permission to open a business account.

Interestingly, his visa consultant in Chicago, Raymond Sanders – who had earlier assisted him in procuring an Indian visa with false information – also helped him in the RBI formality, but the country’s apex bank rejected the application on June 1, 2007. In January 2007, hoping to launch a business in India, Headley had hired an office in Tardeo A/C Market for Rs.13,500 per month and named his landlord as Vora and Maroo Bharucha who was his secretary at the office. The opening of office and application to open a business bank account were in consonance with the earlier plans by his handlers who wanted him to start a business in India. Thursday’s deposition was in continuation of the evidence which he recorded since Monday, with a day’s interruption on Wednesday owing to a technical glitch in the videolink.

Teji said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will retain the documents seized by it during a raid at the office of Rajendra Kumar, principal secretary to Kejriwal, on December 15, last year. "The Bharatiya Janata Party welcomes the high court decision. It is clear that Kejriwal tried to protect the corrupt. He was not protecting the chair of the chief minister or the Delhi government. He even made allegations of political vendetta against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also dragged Finance Minister Arun Jaitley

He every now and then asks the prime minister to resign. What we are demanding is the need of the hour," he added. The BJP leader also sought an apology from Kejriwal for allegedly defending corrupt practices. "He must apologise to the nation for defending corruption. He came to power in the capital on the plea of corruption-free Delhi and he is providing the most corrupt government," he said. After the CBI raid, Kejriwal claimed his office was raided

Pakistan a dangerous place for media persons: Daily agenda to put the mainstream media under siege. The journalist community and political parties’ leaders have condemned the attack and demanded the arrest of the culprits as soon as possible," the daily said. The editorial observed that the "attack prompted the lawmakers of the Punjab Assembly to move a joint resolution while the journalist community staged a protest demonstration to press for their demands to be provided security". Noting that the profession of journalism has always been a challenging job in Pakistan, the daily said: "Nowadays, media houses are vulnerable to terrorist attacks. It is the state’s responsibility to provide protection to journalists inside and outside their workplaces." It went on to say that Pakistan has "already become notorious for

increasing incidents of killings of journalists and is considered one of the most dangerous places for media persons in the world". "Not only the government but media managements should also take stringent measures as the scale of the threat is very large and the personnel of the law enforcement agencies by themselves cannot ensure the security of all media outlets." It said that coordinated efforts by the authorities and managements may be the best way forward for the security of media offices and journalists. "Stronger preventive measures and protection must be undertaken while reviewing existing security protocols for possible loopholes. In an environment of fear, the media cannot play its due role, which is critical in countering the terrorists’ narrative," the daily added.

Rs.25 lakh for Siachen victim's family; rescued soldier also dies Thiruvananthapuram (IANS): The Kerala government on Wednesday sanctioned Rs.25 lakh for the family of Lance Naik Sudheesh, who hailed from Kollam and who was one of the nine soldiers who died in an avalanche on Siachen glacier. Addressing reporters on Wednesday evening after a

cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said the victim's wife would also be given a state government job. Ten soldiers were buried under an avalanche on Siachen glacier on February 3, at an altitude of around 19,500 feet. The bodies of the nine others were also found.

Lance Naik Hanamanthappa Koppad was found alive on Monday, but he died on Thursday at Delhi's Army Hospital Research and Referral, where he had been admitted on Tuesday, following multi-organ failure. Millions in the country had prayed for his recovery.

Pakistan approves draft law on Hindu marriages Islamabad (IANS): Pakistan's National Assembly (NA) committee has approved a draft law on Hindu marriages, paving the way for registering marriages in the minuscule religious minority of the country, the media reported on Tuesday. Five Hindu MNAs were on Monday specially invited to the deliberations of the Standing Committee on Law and Justice on the Hindu Marriage Bill 2015, Dawn online reported. Though delaying tactics continued almost to the last, the committee adopted the bill unanimously after making two amendments to fix the minimum age of the marrying male and female at 18 and making the law applicable to the whole country, instead of just the federal territory.

Committee chairman Chaudhry Mahmood Bashir Virk regretted the longdrawn tactical delay in framing family law for the Hindu community. “It was unbecoming of us Muslims in general and the political leaders in particular. We were required to facilitate the legislation, not obstruct it,” he said. After the 18th Amendment, the issues of religious minorities and their family matters became provincial subjects but the Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies passed resolutions allowing the federation to legislate Hindu marriage law. A similar resolution is pending in the Punjab Assembly while not much has been done in this regard by Sindh Assembly.

Islamabad (IANS): Pakistan is notorious for increasing incidents of killings of journalists and is considered one of the most dangerous places for media persons in the world, said a Pakistani daily on Wednesday. An editorial "Media under siege" in the Daily Times said that an attack on City 42 television channel’s office in Lahore by unidentified armed men has "further panicked journalists, who are already living under the shadow of fear due to constant threats from the terrorists". So far the police are clueless about the perpetrators of the attack. "In the wake of similar attacks on media offices and personnel in Lahore, Faisalabad and Karachi, this emerging onslaught on the media is becoming more common, with the obvious aim of further stifling its freedom. Google search chief Amit Singhal handing baton to AI head Washington (IANS): India-born Amit Singhal, the longtime chief of Google's Internet search business, will leave the company on Feb 26 and be replaced by the head of the technology giant's artificial intelligence (AI) business. With John Giannandrea, currently a vice president of engineering, taking Singhal's place, Google is merging its research efforts with search, an indication of the priority of machine learning inside the company. Singhal, a 15-year Google veteran, was named "Google Fellow" in 2006 for his engineering work on the early search engine. In recent years, he has led the aggressive push for Google to improve its search results on mobile. "Search is stronger than ever, and will only get better in the hands of an out-

standing set of senior leaders who are already running the show day-to-day," Singhal wrote in his retirement message on Google Plus. "My life has been a dream journey," he wrote. "From a little boy growing up in the Himalayas dreaming of the Star Trek computer, to an immigrant who came to the United States with two suitcases and not much else, to the person responsible for Search at Google, every turn has enriched me and made me a better person." "It fills me with pride to see what we have built in the last fifteen years. Search has transformed people's lives; over a billion people rely on us," Singhal wrote. "Our mission of empowering people with information and the impact it has had on this world cannot be overstated.

When I started, who would have imagined that in a short period of fifteen years, we would tap a button, ask Google anything and get the answer. "Today, it has become second nature to us. My dream Star Trek computer is becoming a reality, and it is far better than what I ever imagined," Singhal said. Giannandrea, who joined Google in 2010, led Google's machine learning efforts, applying the technology to products such as image recognition for Google Photos search and the smart reply for Google Inbox. "Machine intelligence is crucial to our Search vision of building a truly intelligent assistant that connects our users to information and actions in the real world," Google said.

IIT-Delhi alumnus Soumitra Dutta to head Cornell's new business college Washington (IANS): Soumitra Dutta, an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi, will become the dean of a new integrated College of Business being launched by the Cornell University during the 2016-17 academic year. Dutta currently is dean and professor of management and organizations in the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University. He is considered an authority on the impact of new technology on the business world, especially social media and social networking, and on strategies for driving growth and innovation by embracing the digital economy. The Ithaca, New York based Ivy League institution announced that the new college was aimed at cementing the university's position as a world-class centre of teaching and research for business management and entrepreneurship. The new College of Business will comprise Cornell's three accredited business programmes: the School of Hotel Administration (SHA), the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management, and the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management. Each school will maintain its unique identity and mission, while their collective capabilities will be strengthened by bringing together faculty, curricular offerings, and programmes within a cohesive College. The establishment of the College, through a change in the university's bylaws, was unanimously approved by the Cornell Board of Trustees at its meeting on January 30. The Cornell College of Business will be one of the most comprehensive business schools in the US with 145 research faculty and nearly 2,900 undergraduate, professional, and graduate students. "At the heart of Cornell is a mission to apply knowledge for public purpose and educate the next generation of professionals and entrepreneurs to solve some of the world's major challenges," said President Elizabeth Garrett. "Being able to leverage Dyson's strength in international development and agricultural economics, SHA's expertise in hospitality, entrepreneurship, and real estate (through the Baker Programme in Real Estate), and Johnson's depth in economics, finance, and executive training will naturally lead to a College of Business that stands out for its unparalleled breadth of instructional excellence," said Dutta. "A more prominent and collaborative platform will elevate opportunities for faculty to conduct innovative research and be at the forefront of their fields." "Bringing together Cornell's three business schools will also establish an effective administrative structure that will be immensely beneficial to the University's ability to continue to attract the best and brightest faculty and students," Dutta said. Dutta has earlier served as the Roland Berger Chaired Professor of Business and Technology and was the founder and academic director of the eLab at INSEAD, a top-ranked graduate business school in Fontainebleau, France. Previous roles Dutta has held during his 23-year tenure at INSEAD include dean of external relations; dean of executive education; and dean of technology and elearning. Dutta received a B.Tech in electrical engineering and computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi. He received an MS in business administration, an MS in computer science, and a PhD in computer science from the University of California at Berkeley.

Indian-origin man fights robbers in New Zealand Wellington (IANS): An Indian-origin man courageously fought and chased down two robbers trying to steal his cash register in Christchurch, the largest city in the South Island of New Zealand, the media reported on Tuesday. Kamlesh Patel, a dairy owner, said two men entered his Opawa Universal Dairy and tried to flee with the cash register at about 7:40 p.m. He chased down the men and caught one and held him captive until the police arrived, reported www.stuff.co.nz/. The second man involved in the attempted robbery managed to escape after his partner was caught. "They ran away with the cash register. I started chasing him. He dropped the cash register and I caught him," Patel was quoted as saying. "[The cash register] was too heavy for them. It's too heavy for me," he added. Patel was at the dairy with several friends and family members. The group held on to the offender until the police arrived a short time later. Five years ago, a man demanding cash and tobacco robbed Patel at gunpoint. Patel tried and stopped the offender that time too, and received minor head injuries as he tried to wrestle the rifle from the offender. Patel said he did not believe the men involved in the attempted robbery were armed. Patel said that no one was hurt during the incident. "Shoplifters keep coming, but this is different," he was quoted as saying.

26 swine flu deaths in Punjab; committee to review situation Chandigarh (IANS): Twenty-six people have died of swine flu in Punjab in recent days, the state's health minister said on Monday. Health Minister Surjit Jayani said that till date, 183 suspected cases of H1N1 have been reported, out of which 57 cases were found positive for H1N1. The Punjab government on Monday also announced the constitution of a state-level advisory committee under the chairmanship of D. Besides this, doctors of three government medical colleges have been trained in ventilator management at New Delhi for management of serious cases," the minister said. "It has been noticed that cases found to be H1N1 positive were being treated by private doctors for some time and were referred to higher centres only when the condition deteriorated," Jayani pointed out. The minister said the situation was under control.

'1982-A Love Marriage', '1942-A Love Story' poles apart: Amitkumar Sharma ACTOR Amitkumar Sharma says that his film "1982-A Love Marriage" and classic film "1942-A Love Story" are poles apart in its story, and the only similarity between the two is the title and the fact that they are period love stories. "We have been pestered by comparisons with '1942A Love Story' since the time we announced that our film will be titled '1982-A Love Marriage'. Yes, the title is similar and our film is also a period love story but that's where the comparisons end... the story is

poles apart," Sharma told IANS. Sharma plays a character who is overenthusiastic about love marriage in the film and even watches Kumar Gaurav's "Love Story" 22 times. When he eventually has an arranged marriage, he gets disheartened, but as seen in the trailer, he jumps with joy, when after several instances he believes that it is a love marriage with his wife. "Frankly speaking, getting associated with a film such as '1942-A Love Story'

even in the minutest way is a big honour for us, since the film is a classic. But it also places unnecessary expectations on us to live up to it which we don't want and which we perhaps can't do. We don't have unrealistic demands from our film, ours is a small film with a heart. While '1942-A Love Story' was an intense love story with action and conflicts, ours is a light-hearted take on love and arranged marriages for the family audiences. We don't want to give any intense message

'Kapoor and Sons' special to all of us: Karan Johar UPCOMING film "Kapoor and Sons" was special to the entire production team for various reasons, feels Karan Johar. The trailer of "Kapoor and Sons" produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions was unveiled in Mumbai on

Wednesday. "'Kapoor and Sons' is special to all of us for various reasons, also because it makes a huge shift from loving your parents to understanding your children. I think it is a different perspective on family. All families have a

series of issues, some hidden secrets, lies and conflicts but eventually it is the cementing factor in all our lives," Karan said at the trailer launch. The starcast -- Sidharth Malhotra, Fawad Khan, Alia Bhatt, Ratna Pathak Shah and Rajat Kapoor --

was present at the event. "'Kapoor and Sons' touches upon the happy days, some sad ones that we need to overcome, and the film deals with these issues in their own manner," Karan said. The film sees the return of director Shakun Batra who had previously directed the Imran KhanKareena Kapoor starrer "Ekk Main Aur Ekk Tu". It captures the on-andoff bond between Sidharth and Fawad who play brothers, Rajat and Ratna their parents and the overall ups and downs in the Kapoor family, while Alia gets involved with the family through her bond with the brothers at various points of the story. An interesting part of the trailer, though, is the 'old' Mr. Kapoor -- played

by Rishi Kapoor. About his look, Karan said: "Chintu ji's (Kapoor) age is in the 60s, and he had to portray a role of an 85-90-year old. And obviously there was a need for makeup and we got a team for it, it's usually prosthetic makeup." "It used to take 3-4 hours every day, and it is tough for an artist to sit on the chair for that long and

on top of that, to perform with all of it on your face. It needs a certain kind of experience and tremendous talent, to perform through that. It was a specific look, and Chintuji looked convincing," Karan said. "Kapoor and Sons", presented by Fox Star Studios, releases on March 18. (IANS)

'Jai Gangaajal' was an amazing experience: Priyanka Chopra ACTRESS Priyanka Chopra says shooting Prakash Jha's "Jai Gangaajal" was an "amazing" experience as she got an opportunity to work with "fine actors". The 33-year-old actress shared a video on Twitter, showcasing some clips from the film. The video also featured Jha, as well as actors Manav Kaul, Murli Sharma, Ninad Kamat and Rahul Bhat.

"'Jai Gangaajal' was an amazing experience especially because I had the opportunity to work with such fine actors,"

Priyanka captioned the video. "Jai Gangaajal", releasing on March 4, revisits the dusty heartland of central India and examines the society-police relationship. Priyanka will be seen portraying the role of a police officer named Abha Mathur, while Jha will also be seen playing a police officer in the film. (IANS)

Sidhu shadow haunts BJP ahead of Punjab elections Chandigarh (IANS): Having sidelined its most popular political face, cricketer-turnedpolitician Navjot Singh Sidhu, the BJP in Punjab seems undecided on its own future political course as the state heads for crucial assembly polls in about a year's time. Having been piggy-back in power with the Shiromani Akali Dal since 2007, the BJP, fresh from its triumph from the May 2014 general elections, had started showing signs in Punjab of breaking its shackles with the Akalis and even going all on its own in the next assembly elections. However, the embarrassing reverses suffered by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Delhi and Bihar assembly polls changed things for the party, which has not only been lying low for the past few months but has resigned itself to playing second fiddle to the Akali Dal. The state BJP leadership, which had started giving indications of either breaking up with the Akali Dal or, at least, have an equal share of seats in the elections for the 117-member assembly, is not making any noises. As Punjab's political scene heats up, the talk is all about a triangular fight between the ruling Akali Dal, the main opposition Congress and the

new entrant - the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). No one is even mentioning the BJP anywhere. The problem for the BJP in Punjab is that it is led by a bunch of leaders who have little or no standing in state politics, leave alone having any recognition at the national level. BJP president Amit Shah met some of them on Saturday to get feedback on the BJP's future course in the state. The party leadership, in the past few years, deliberately chose to ignore and even embarrass its best known face, Navjot Singh Sidhu, who was elected on the party ticket as MP of Amritsar thrice (2004, 2007 bypoll and 2009). In the 2014 general elections, the BJP dumped Sidhu and fielded Arun Jaitley, now the finance minister in the Narendra Modi government. Jaitley, pitted against Congress stalwart and former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh, lost badly by a margin of over 100,000 votes. This was Jaitley's maiden foray into popular electoral politics and he started with a big loss. Sidhu, upset with his party, refused to even enter Amritsar during the entire Jaitley campaign. But the wily Sidhu was in Amritsar just a day after the voting took place.

A popular Jat-Sikh face, Sidhu paid the price for his run-ins with Punjab's dominant Badal family. He had verbal duels with Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister and Akali Dal president Sukhbir Badal and Sukhbir's powerful brother-inlaw Bikram Majithia. For their own political survival, Punjab BJP leaders chose to push Sidhu to a corner. In recent months, the political grapevine has been that Sidhu was in talks with the AAP and even the Congress. There has been no strong denial or confirmation of this from any side. The AAP, which is giving a serious challenge to Punjab's hitherto two-party (AkaliCongress) option, is looking for a big name to drive its campaign. It was Punjab's electorate which gave entry to the AAP in the Lok Sabha in the 2014 elections. The party won four seats - all from Punjab. In the AAP's scheme of things, Sidhu fits the bill. He is known as an honest and upright political leader, is outspoken, has popular appeal, connects well through speeches and is a Jat-Sikh face - all ingredients for a good chief ministerial candidate. It only depends on him and the AAP whether they want to get together.

Beginning Monday, you feel the need to acknowledge your responsibility towards your future. Your thoughts and expectations need to be penned down in practical achievable objectives. This will help you jot down the exact blue print of how you plan to achieve them in small yet meaningful steps. Once done, you are more than likely to have a super action plan ready by end of the day Thursday. This weekend may require a few deviations that you are more than willing to comply with, keeping the bigger picture in mind.

Positive results ofthe good work done previously start to show up, in a very tangible way, as the week begins on Monday. Not very long ago, you had almost felt that you would never be able to see success in the effort that you were employing for so long. Yet with persistent will power, you made the impossible… really possible. Midweek, you have the support of one and all to assist you in your objectives. Yet you are all ahead, getting ready to face another daunting task. Plan your action this weekend. Things look good.

Monday could begin with a difference of opinion with someone close as to how you want to go about doing certain things. Though you both have good intents and know that neither of the alternatives can be termed as incorrect, the difference lies in the approach. You may find it difficult to resolve the difference so it is best you handle it as it comes, rather than preempting a solution. Enjoy nature walks and calm the chaos in your heart. Not only will it calm you down, it will make you receptive of all the beauty and abundance that the world has to offer you.

Finally you have a week that is so much more fun and interesting. You get to spend lots of time with your loved one this Monday. You almost feel that good times are back again and the feeling is so stimulating and energising. Thought the mood persists throughout the week, you could have certain time frames in the week that could feel dull or diagonally opposite to the optimistic rush that you are enjoying. Nevertheless, take this dreary stretches in your stride and enjoy what you have and life will feel good. Weekend is all about bonding.

Monday finds you all enthusiastic and driven to the objectives that you have set for yourself. Beginning Tuesday and almost till the end of the work week, your associates, pals and loved ones would need all your zeal and clear headed intelligent thinking to help resolve their issues. Though you may be more than happy to oblige to their needs, it certainly will divert and deflect you from your own objectives and stall your movement towards them, for the time being. Weekend may bring back the urge to re-route back to your wants & essentials.

You face an unexpected obstacle from someone you least expected it, this Monday. It is one clear example of what extent people can go to, to show off their importance. Midweek you are all set to reciprocate in a manner that can throw them off balance in the most novel method. You bestow upon them all respect, adulation and consideration without compromising on your stand. You know deep down, however hard they try, they cannot beat you in your game. Though they may not accept their defeat directly, you have won the game, this weekend.

The realisation of certain truths will mark the beginning of the week. Are you trying to be dependent on stuff and people that you don't need or do you fear a loss of someone close to you? The fact of the matter is that the things and people that are meant to stand with you will stand by you, no matter what the situation. Hence it's no point stressing on such thoughts. This week you are able to sort out the people who truly mean well for you. Weekend may reveal a new development about someone you care for.

There could be a lot of confusion happening on the domestic front this Monday. And the perplexity of this disorder could distract you in a big way, from what you are your current priorities. Don't let your-self get discouraged from what your focus is and you will be good. The second half of the weekend is much more resourceful and inspired. And the people around you can help make it more productive and enjoyable. Weekend, don't take chances.

The urge to help as many pals as possible is good, but overdoing it could leave you strained and exhausted this Monday. Though you will continue your activity stretching yourself beyond your limits on Tuesday and Wednesday as well, this weariness and fatigue could cause you to take rest on Thursday and Friday, that's vital to get you back to your normal self once again. This weekend be prepared to face another ordeal, that would require a lot of focus and resolve from your end to tackle it.

Beginning Monday, to almost end of the day, Wednesday, you seem to be active inwardly, trying to figure out certainfuturistic strategies that need a lot of thought before transforming them in to action. While it is fine by you, to be thinking deeply, people around may feel left o u t a n d f i n d yo u r a t t i t u d e indifferent. Let them know, that you need some time to yourself and you should back to your normal self soon. Weekend finds you active socially.

You feel the urge for instilling positive change in everything – yourself, your surroundings, your thoughts, your beliefs, the way you analyse people etc. You realise that the olden patterns are no more working for you. Life is moving fast ahead of you and you have to step up your pace… to be able to catch up with it. It may feel a bit out of your comfort zone but then it is important for your own betterment. Midweek you may feel the growth that is taking place thanks to the changing conditions. Weekend is crazy.

It may be difficult to decipher your thoughts and emotions as the week begins on Monday. Are you feeling sentimental or guilty? Only you can decide what is it that is weighing so heavily on your heart or mind that you are unable to feel the regular energy levels in yourself. Sharing these feelings with someone close might help reduce the weight / load that you feel on yourself. This mood shall prevail almost all through the week, encouraging you to look inward for the right solutions. Weekend is more relaxing and upbeat.

Celebrate diversity this Valentine's Day BY DR. DAVID MCLAUREN EVERY February 14, we celebrate the day of love, Valentine's Day, by exchanging gifts or greetings. These valentines often contain a message of love or affection for the receiver. Valentine's Day is a time for remembering one's vows of love to one anoth-

er, and it is a day for those who are desperate to win the affection of another, often enticing them with fattening gifts like chocolate. With Valentine's Day come visions of Cupid, a mischievous, winged child whose arrows pierce the hearts of his victims, causing them to fall deeply in love. In ancient Greece, he was known as Eros,

the son of the goddess of love, Aphrodite. To the Romans, he was Cupid, the son of their goddess of love, Venus. How do we celebrate love on Valentine's Day in a diverse multicultural society? Canada and the United States are the most culturally diverse countries on Earth. As thousands of people from virtually every nation and ethnic group arrive on our shores, our cities have truly become a multicultural mosaic. Do you know that over 100 languages are spoken in our cities? Such diversity can enrich the lives of those who welcome it, but not everyone is quick to embrace cultures different from their own. Many are initially ignorant of new traditions, appearances and religions and communities can quickly become tainted with stereotypes, racism, bullying and intolerance. In celebration of our rich diversity, add new meaning to this year's Valentine's Day in our North American cities by doing more than exchanging chocolates and roses. Love with forgiveness: Intolerance of other cultures can stem from a bad experience in the past. Use this Valentine's Day to reflect on whether you need to forgive anyone this season. Open your heart so you may accept new experiences and relationships. Love with generosity: Why stop at close friends and family when sharing Cupid's arrows? Take a look outside your close-knit circle for someone in need of a little extra care. Know a lonely neighbor or an isolated senior? Add special meaning to this year's Valentine's Day by showering them with an unexpected dose of cheer. Love with charity: Do you know that North Americans are viewed as the

most generous people in the world? Generosity does not have to mean writing a check to a needy person or a charity. It can also mean giving of ourselves and our time to make a positive difference. Take Valentine's Day a step further by volunteering at a food bank or serving at a soup kitchen. Love with sympathy: Each night, we see images of people suffering on the nightly news. Take their suffering to heart and let your sympathy inspire you to action. Show your love for humanity by actively working to alleviate someone else’s suffering, whether it’s from poverty, disease or injustice. Love with foresight: This Valentine’s Day, take a moment to remember that while we may speak different languages and enjoy different food, we are all connected by our dependence on the Earth. Loving your neighbors means caring enough to protect the land we share. Make your home greener by only using products whose production and disposal do not harm natural resources. Happy Valentine’s Day! Dr. David McLauren of the Mosaic Community Church can be reached at 604-897-4224.

part of a unique social media campaign made for the Sonam Kapoor starrer “Neerja”, which encourages unleashing one's fears and exhibiting courage. Produced by Atul Kasbekar under the banner of Fox Star Studios, the film, which is slated to release on February 19, revolves around the hijacking of Pan Am Flight 73 in Karachi in Pakistan and how a flight attendant named Neerja Bhanot saved the lives of 360 people on board the air craft. To support her bravery, many Bollywood celebrities took to various social media sites to share videos of their fears and how they overcame it under the hashtag “#fearvsneerja”. Salman Khan shared a piece of advice given by his father Salim Khan: “Jo darr gaya samjho mar gaya”. Anil Kapoor shared: "My biggest fear is sitting on the dining table and going hysterical and berserk where food is concerned. I overcome it by sitting with my wife who keeps on slapping on my hand so that I don't eat too much. Filmmaker Karan Johar spoke about his biggest fear which is of his right profile being captured instead of his left profile which he feels makes him look best. Actor Shahid Kapoor shared a rather light hearted video in which he said he doesn't have any fear, while Priyanka Chopra talked about a rather unique fear which she termed as 'No-Mo Phobia' -fear of no mobile phones. Parineeti Chopra terms “plane landing' to be her biggest fear; and Alia Bhatt shared that she fears “missing out” and so she battles it by being everywhere and doing everything. Anupam Kher is fearful about losing his memory one day, and Huma Qureshi spoke out loud about her fear of dreams. Rajkumar Rao shared: "My biggest fear would be that one day my director would say action and I will just freeze. I wouldn't know how to act.. I wouldn't know how to crack it. It's like god will take away acting from me. I don't know what I would do then." Neil Nitin Mukesh termed “being alone” to be his biggest fear. Actress Esha Gupta shared to have overcome her fear of “free falling” by indulging in sky diving. (IANS)

Katrina bored with 'hardworking' tag, wants poetic adjectives ACTRESS Katrina Kaif says that she has heard numerous compliments terming her "hardworking", but she would rather prefer more poetic adjectives. "I have said this already, I want to hear more adjectives... I want to hear dream-like, talented, wistful, beautiful - I want to hear poetic ones," said Katrina on Wednesday at the Reliance Digital store for the promotions of her film "Fitoor". Her response was to the query regarding her "Ek Tha Tiger" co-star Salman Khan calling her "most

hardworking in the industry" and almost like a "mazdoor" (worker). Her mother in "Fitoor", Tabu had also claimed that Katrina was the most hardworking actress. "If my co-stars find and

feel that I'm a good worker and a hard worker, that's good because in all seriousness there is so much riding on a film, everyone puts in so much of their life, hardwork and money. So the most you can do is to give your best, work with your full heart, work as much as you can, then leave it up to god," she added. Katrina and her co-star Aditya Roy Kapur promoted "Fitoor" in various cities like Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad recently. But she is not tired and wants more. "If I had my way, I would

have gone to every city, at least 8 or 9 more. But there is only so much time and we can only do that much in the time we have. We have tried to get the message about the film out there. It's a film that we really believe in.

"It's a film made with a lot of love and passion, and now we would have to leave it up to fate and the audience and see what the response is going to be. We're extremely excited, we have done everything we can to try

and make the audience aware of the film. So now we have our fingers crossed and are now hoping Friday is a good day." "Fitoor", directed by Abhishek Kapoor, is releasing on February 12. (IANS)

Richa Chadha is the hero of 'Cabaret': Pooja Bhatt "CABARET" lead actor Richa Chadha is the hero of the film, says producer Pooja Bhatt. "Richa's character in the film is a very strong character. She is the hero of the film. She is the whole and soul of the film," said Pooja at the location shoot of the film on Tuesday. Richa had reportedly fallen ill after she had smoked cigarettes for a scene in the film, since she is a nonsmoker in real life. She had to take a break of a couple of days to get back to the sets.

Considering the title, it is obvious that the film will draw references to veteran cabaret dancer Helen. But Pooja denied that it is inspired from Helen's life. "The film is not inspired by anyone. It's based on the

lives of celebrities and incidents related to the functioning of the film industry. The film is inspired by life and nothing else. It is the media which has said that it is inspired by Helen," she said. Pooja had shared Richa's look in the film on social media, which has generated sufficient buzz. The film has been directed by Kaustav Narayan Niyogi and produced by Pooja Bhatt and Bhushan Kumar. The film also marks the debut of cricketer S. Sreesanth. (IANS)

Kanye West claims Bill Cosby is 'innocent' Los Angeles, Feb 10 (IANS) Following his Twitter feud with singer-songwriter Wiz Khalifa, rapper Kanye West has once again caused a stir on the internet by sending out a tweet which claimed that comedian-actor Bill Cosby, who is charged with sexual assault, was innocent. "Bill Cosby innocent!" the 38-year-old rapper posted to his 18 million followers, reports aceshowbiz.com. He didn't give any explanation about his controversial tweet and continued posting some messages about other topics. Shortly after the tweet was sent, people immediately reacted to it. While some of them expressed their disagreement, some others just gave hilarious comments. "Countdown to @kanyewest saying 'My Twitter was hacked'," a Twitter user wrote. "Im'ma let you finish but Kanye West wrote the worst tweet of all time,"

another user tweeted. There's also a user who posted a photograph showing the list of Bill's victims. "Here are all the women who have accused Bill Cosby of sexual assault @kanyewest," so read the caption of the photo. More than 30 women have accused the 78-year-old comedian of sexual assault. Back in December 2015, Cosby was charged with aggravated indecent assault in connection with an alleged sexual assault he committed in early 2004.

'Jab Tum Kaho' based on blind Can't relate to my 'Ki and Ka' character: Arjun Kapoor dating: Filmmaker DEBUTANTE film maker Vikram Shankar's upcoming romantic comedy film "Jab Tum Kaho" is based on blind dating and he says the film is a conventional definition of blind dating, portrays one focussing more on love rather than sex. "The concept of blind dating is prevalent since ages. Even in an arranged marriage, when a boy gets introduced to a girl, it is also like blind dating. But the new generation thinks blind dating is just about sex, and our story definitely includes these points, but it is primarily about love," Shankar, who has directed the film, told IANS. The film stars actor Parvin Dabas, who has featured in popular films such as "Khosla Ka Ghosla" and "Ragini MMS 2" among others. Lead actress Ambalika Sarkar makes her debut, while another actress Shirin Guha was seen in

"Society takes some time to understand these things, but that is the quirk of the film, I think," Arjun added. "Ki and Ka" also features megastar Amitabh Bachchan and his actress-politician wife Jaya Bachchan in a cameo. (IANS)

PREITY Zinta is miffed with all the rumours surrounding her impending marriage plans. The actress says she is fed up of “manufactured news”, adding that there is no need for any speculation as she will make an announcement when she has to. It seems the marriage gossip is not leaving Preity's side. Last year, there were reports that the "Soldier" actress will be tying the knot with her rumoured American beau Gene Goodenough in January, and now there are rumours suggesting that the actress will be getting hitched on Valentine's Day, which falls on February 14. “Really? I think you should shut down your paper or carry real news! I am actually fed up of manufactured news. Can you leave my marriage announcement to me please after all its my life till then leave me alone,” Preity tweeted. The actress also blamed media for spreading fictitious stories. She added: “Am seriously fed up with all the speculation about my personal life! The media really knows how to ruin things...this needs to stop! #fedup". The actress, who was last seen in the 2014 release “Happy Ending” on the big screen and on the small screen as a judge on the dance reality show "Nach Baliye 7", also tweeted about a shoot without divulging much information about it. “At a shoot now so have to run! Olympic movement shows support for Rio 2016 Rio de Janeiro (IANS): With Brazil currently in recession, International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach on Monday said stakeholders will cooperate with each other to help the 2016 Rio Games achieve a balanced budget. "The Olympic movement will show solidarity with the Brazilians in order to achieve a balanced budget, which will then serve as a solid foundation

for the next six months to have finally successful and excellent Olympic Games in Brazil," Bach told Rio 2016 official website. On February 1-2, Rio 2016 met with representatives of the 28 Olympic summer sport International Federations (IFs) in a joint effort to deliver efficiencies in the budget for the Olympic Games. In line with the IOC' s Agenda 2020 reforms, strategies for maintaining a balanced budget were the focus of

the meeting at the IOC headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, reports Xinhua. The parties worked together to find creative solutions that will allow organisers to deliver successful Games on a responsible budget. Sustainability and legacy are key to all Games planning and the Rio 2016 organising committee is committed to using zero public money. The meeting was part of the

ongoing close dialogue between the IOC, Rio 2016 and the IFs. Rio 2016 president Carlos Nuzman led the Rio 2016 delegation and was accompanied by his executive director of sport Agberto Guimaraes and sport director Rodrigo Garcia. The IOC was led by Olympic Games executive director Christophe Dubi and sport director Kit McConnell. Among the ideas designed to increase efficiency that were

presented to the IFs were shared working areas and more cost-effective transport solutions. Matt Smith, executive director of the International Rowing Federation (FISA), said that the meeting was "really useful for us all" before adding "we have to be very efficient and make the Games financially viable for the future".

Goa's women cricketers to get Israeli martial arts boost Panaji (IANS): The Goa Cricket Association (GCA) has contacted an Israeli martial arts school to develop self-defence workshops for its women's Under-19 and Under-21 teams to boost the players' mental and

physical fitness and develop a winning instinct. The GCA will seek to benefit from the Israeli martial art technique, named Krav Maga. It is a self-defence technique pioneered first by the

Israeli armed forces, but over the years it has found followers across the globe. The martial art is a combination of various forms of fighting like boxing, aikido, judo, wrestling and is consid-

ered as one of the better fighting arts, especially when it comes to realworld combat scenarios. Elroy Vaz, an expert of the technique of the Krav Maga Global (KMG) who has been roped in by the GCA, said the martial art

It has been used to train the elite Indian Navy's marine commandos or MARCOS, best remembered for their anti-terror operation following the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. According to GCA president Chetan Desai, the decision to enlist Krav Maga experts was taken to ensure that women cricketers benefit from it professionally as well as for self-defence. "It helps to be prepared. We are hoping that it will help develop a winning instinct in the team," Desai said.

would help make the women players mentally tougher and react better to tough situations in the game. "Our brief is to instill a spirit of aggression into the players in the Under19 and Under-21 age groups. We will be conducting workshops where their mental and physical techniques would be developed with the help of Krav Maga," Vaz told IANS on Wednesday. Vaz says he has already devised several on-field scenarios for women batsmen and bowlers, in which, infusion of Krav Maga techniques would help them respond better. "Mental toughness and qualitative reactions are essential when say a batsman is being hounded by a fast bowler with bouncers. With Krav Maga techniques, we not only can

London (IANS): Cricketers can be red carded or banished to a sin-bin for 10 overs as Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) tries to bring down the levels of bad behaviour. The club is set to launch a trial that will, in effect, bring red or yellow cards to club, university and schools cricket to address issues relating to excessive sledging and violent behaviour. There were as many as five games abandoned in England last year due to violence and after discussing with umpire associations around the globe MCC has decided to introduce a code of conduct with four levels of offences. One of the proposals for a level four offence is to send off a player for issues such as threatening an umpire, assaulting a player, official or spectator, and racist abuse. If

it is a batsman, he will be "retired out". For a level three offence players can be sent to the sin-bin for 10 overs. For lesser offences a side may face a five-run penalty. "We know anecdotally that player behaviour seems to be on the wane in cricket, certainly in this country," Fraser Stewart, the MCC’s head of laws was quoted as saying by the Telegraph.co.uk. “Statistics from leagues show there are increased numbers of players being reported. Last summer, five games had to be abandoned due to varying degrees of violence. That is an increase, for sure. It was felt that now was a good time to review this whole area and perhaps try and find leagues, competitions and schools willing to trial means that act as a deterrent.”

2,700 beehives: Badal village resident set up shop 14 years ago, now has turnover of Rs.1.5 million Muktsar: Pardeep Kumar, 29, a native of Badal village in Muktsar, has become a source of inspiration for farmers of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir with his successful beekeeping business, which he started 14 years ago. In 2002, Pardeep, who has studied till Class 12, started beekeeping with 16 beehives, but now has an annual turnover of Rs 1.5 crore [Rs.15 million]. He is not just selling honey, but also making apple jam now. At present, he owns 2,700 beehives across five states and has a staff of 60. One beehive gives him about 40 kg of honey

a year. He sells his produce to Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurved Limited, Dabur India Limited and some other traders in Delhi. He has

also got supply orders from Markfed. Taking it a step further, he has also started supplying beehives to the state’s Horticulture

Department, which further gives it on subsidy to beekeepers. Pardeep was also given an award by the state for beekeeping on Independence Day in 2013. The journey of this young businessman was not easy. He says, “My father passed away when I was just a six years old. My mother is an anganwari worker and we are five siblings. So, it was not an easy task for her to feed us. After completing my studies, I started beekeeping by making an investment of Rs 65,000. Now, I am not just selfsufficient, but also provide employment to a large number of people.” Pardeep also puts up stalls at events, such as

the National Livestock Championship. He generally does a business of nearly Rs 1.5 lakh [Rs.150,000] in just five days at these events. “In a year, I put up stalls in nearly 40 melas. This way, I publicise my brand and do brisk business,” he added. Narrating his success story, he says, “I got trained at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Bathinda. But today, people come to me to get trained.” When he started, he was the lone beekeeper in his village, but now six more people have started this business. “Similarly, in neighbouring Kheowali, seven people are into beekeeping now.

We have set up a cooperative society at Badal village to promote beekeeping.” He gives the credit of his success to Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who also hails from the same village. “When the CM came to know about my efforts, he called me and assured me of all help. And he did.” “The government is giving 50 per cent subsidy to beekeepers and farmers must adopt it,” he says. Dr HS Sandha, Director, Animal Husbandry, says, “Every farmer must adopt subsidiary occupation to supplement his income.” (Tribune newspaper report and photo)

Govinda gets two weeks to apologise in a slapping incident THE Supreme Court on Tuesday gave film star Govinda two weeks' time to meet Santosh Bateshwar Ray to tender an apology and settle the dispute over an alleged 2009 slapping incident. Govinda's lawyer Sangeeta Kumar told a bench of Justice V. Gopala Gowda and Justice Uday Umesh Lalit that the cine star would meet Ray to settle the dispute outside the court as desired by the court. As the bench told her that her client should settle the issue outside the court, she undertook that he would act as desired by the court. The court then adjourned the matter by two weeks. It had on November 30, 2015, asked Govinda to settle

the dispute with Ray with an apology. The court gave Govinda two week's time as counsel Jatin Zaveri appearing for Ray told it that the actor has not complied with the November 30 order, and said that he be given two weeks' time to comply, failing which the court should hear and decide the matter on its merits. During the November 30 hearing, the court had

told Govinda: "You are a big hero, show your big heart (and apologise and settle the matter)." The court on Tuesday today again asked Govinda to settle the matter out of the court in the course of the hearing of a petition by Ray who had challenged the Bombay High Court order quashing his complaint holding that there was no material supporting his allegation of criminal intimidation by the veteran star. The court had on November 30 asked Govinda to tender apology after it viewed video clip of the alleged act of violence. After watching the video clip, the court had told Govinda's counsel that such acts in public places could not be appreciated.

Yash Raj Films to back game on SRK's 'Fan' PRODUCTION banner Yash Raj Films is collaborating with online game portal 99Games for an official game for superstar Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film “Fan”. Titled “FAN: The Game”, the game revolves around the journey of an ardent fan and the challenges he encounters in trying to meet the superstar he idolises. In the game, fans can connect with Shah Rukh at his residence Mannat, in a

film studio, in a cinema hall or at a mall and prove their love for the superstar. “We are very thrilled to launch our product “FAN: The Game" in partnership with 99Games. We believe that the gamers will really enjoy the gameplay that boasts of multiple levels and offers the opportunity to collect exciting gratifications,” Manan Mehta, vice-president of marketing and merchandise at Yash Raj Films, said in a statement.

Talking about the game and his association with Yash Raj Films, Rohith Bhat, chief executive officer of 99Games, said: “The game will have avenues for players to connect with the superstar and a chance to come face-to-face with their idol in real life.” “Fan”, which also stars Waluscha De Sousa, Illeana D'Cruz and Shriya Pilgaonkar among others, is slated to release this year. (IANS)

The matter relates to February 2, 2009, when Ray had lodged a complaint against the veteran star accusing him causing hurt, intentional insult with an intent to provoke breach of the peace and criminal intimidation.

Ray's complaint before the magistrate's court was quashed by the high court in 2013. It was against this order of quashing the Ray had moved the apex court. The high court had observed: "No doubt

some incident had occurred. However, there is no material to prove criminal intimidation. It appears that the complainant was instigated to file the complaint after a year." (IANS)

Ronaldo is the best: Zidane Madrid (IANS): France legend and Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane said on Wednesday that Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in the world ahead of his arch rival Lionel Messi. The World Cup winner also believes that the rivalry between the two is good for the game. "Cristiano Ronaldo is the

best," Zidane was quoted as saying by goal.com. "Messi is his rival and the rivalry is good for football." Zidane has had a wonderful start to his managerial career at Real after replacing Rafael Benitez as the club manager at the start of January. The Frenchman did not spend in the January transfer

window and insists he has a quality squad at hand. "I have a sensational group, I am very happy with the players and what they are doing, 80 to 90 percent of the game is in the mental strength. If you are focused, it is the most important thing. Playing for Real Madrid is a dream, we are lucky to be here," he said.

India will be toughest in WorldT20: Watson Dubai (IANS): Australian all-rounder Shane Watson believes that hosts India will be the biggest threat to his team in the World T20 which is scheduled to start on March 9. Watson, who has had extensive experience of playing in the sub-continent thanks to the Indian Premier League (IPL), believes that India have the firepower to go the distance on their home turf. Australia are scheduled to take on the hosts in their final group match in Mohali on March 27. "I think India will be the toughest team because it's in their home conditions," Watson was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au on

Wednesday. "They know their conditions better than anyone and have performed well in big events at home." Watson believes that the Indian team have quality players in every department. "India have a good all-round team; their

batting has firepower all the way through, bowlingwise, their spinners are world class and they have some good quicks," the 34-year-old said. "Ashish Nehra is bowling really well and (Jasprit) Bumrah has been a great find for them. They have a really well balanced team so I think they will be a big challenge." India have dominated Australia in the shortest format recently, having won 3-0 Down Under in last month's T20 series. India have won the tournament once in 2007 and in 2014 they made it to the finals but lost to neighbours Sri Lanka by six wickets.

European football clubs opposed to more teams in World Cup Paris (IANS): The European Club Association (ECA) has announced its strong opposition to expanding the number of national football teams in the FIFA World Cup from 32 to 40. In a press conference held on Tuesday during the ECA's general assembly, the association's vicepresident and CEO of AC Milan, Umberto Gandini

said: "The clubs acknowledge the importance of national teams to the federations but we have a responsibility to the players." FIFA's reform committee proposed an initiative to increase the number of teams participating in the World Cup, which the ECA considered a "burden on the players", reports Efe. After two days of meet-

ings between members of 143 European football clubs, the ECA said the healthy balance between national teams and clubs must not be subjected to a threat. ECA includes 220 clubs, and has two representatives in the European football governing body's executive committee, but does not have the right to vote in the FIFA elections.

The starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price* (MSRP) for the Sentra S with 6-speed manual transmission is $15,898, an increase of just $300 despite significant enhancements to the Sentra lineup for the new model year. “Sentra is the second-best selling product for Nissan in Canada, and has experienced steady market share growth in recent years,” said Steve Rhind, director of marketing at Nissan Canada, Inc. “To help keep momentum going, we’ve given Sentra a new look and feel for 2016, starting with a revised exterior and the addition of an expanded suite of available safety and driving aid technologies.” The exterior redesign brings Sentra closer to the allnew 2016 Maxima and new 2016 Altima. All three Nissan sedans reflect Nissan’s new design language first introduced on the dramatic Nissan Murano crossover. Key features of the new Sentra exterior include new front and rear fascias, grille, fenders, hood and signature boomerangshaped headlights and taillights and a new available 17inch aluminum-alloy wheel design.
