Sept/Oct ‘95 Salaamun-Alaikum Brothers and Sisters, WELCOME to the new academic year and welcome also to the first issue of the IUS Newsletter. From all of us here on the IUS committee, we trust that you are in good health, that you have had a great summer and are looking forward to what the coming year may bring for you - inshallah. This newsletter is designed to keep you in touch; with us, with other members and with the community in London. We will hope to provide you with up to date information on what is happening in the society, in London and the major events around the country. WHAT’S ON: 1. Our first meeting of 1995/6 is on Wednesday 4th Oct. We’ll have an introduction for this year’s freshers and of course a reunion of last years’ members. There will be a short talk in English to be given by a Guest Speaker. TIME : 5.30 p.m for 6.00 p.m (Refreshments will be provided from 5.30 p.m.) PLACE: Dar-ul-Hikma, 45 Chalton St. off Euston Rd. (Near U.C.L), nearest tube stations: Euston, Euston Sq. or Kings Cross. Make sure you don’t miss out on our first meeting of the year, it will be an excellent opportunity for you to get to know everyone. If you’re not sure where it is, please get in touch. 2.
The next meetings will be held on alternate Wednesdays: i.e. 18 Oct, 1 Nov, 15 Nov, 29 Nov and They will be held at approximately the same time and at the same place, we’ll keep you posted.

NEWS: *Alhamdolillah the I.U.S has been growing at a phenomenal rate. In less than one year membership has gone from a handful of London students to approximately 120 brothers and 50 sisters, extending from London to Peterborough, Leeds, Manchester and even as far as Glasgow! We have also received contacts from the United States, Canada, Pakistan and Iran. *Great News. For our first excursion we’ve managed to organise our very own independent trip to perform Umrah this year. All the details are enclosed with this letter. We’ve booked the seats to leave on December 23rd. If you are interested in coming please get in touch soon - there are now only 39 places left. *Reminder: If you have not yet completed and sent back your membership registration form, please do so as soon as possible. Once you have confirmed your address for this year we can send you your membership number and other details. Thankyou.
