Chaya is the place to be!

It is always lovely when a new independent business is launched, especially during these times when many small businesses have sadly had to ‘shut up shop’. Mina Road in St Werburghs is a hive of activity and has some great independents that have still managed to weather this storm and adapt to changing times. Chaya Vegetables is a new addition to Mina Road and is a little hub of delight! At first, you will more than likely be drawn to the shop by the cool sounds that Thomas Genge, the owner, chooses to play. I have often had a little dance outside to some very cool beats. Once the music draws you in, shoppers will find shelves and shelves of locally sourced fruit and vegetable, spices, herbs, teas, flour, oils and pickles!

I caught with up Thomas to find out what inspired him to open and launch Chaya Vegetables. He told me: “Originally, I was going to launch Chia Festival but then the lockdown happened, so I needed a new venture and Chaya Vegetables was born.
