Yes to the little things

In her final days, a bed-ridden mother could not see her beloved rose garden from her room. Her Hospice volunteer responded to this predicament by bringing her beautiful bouquets of roses, procured by Dream Foundation’s Flower Empower program, to bring her joy and make her feel more at home.

Like VNA Health caregivers, VNA Health volunteers have a big heart and go above and beyond in so many ways. In her final moments, a patient’s young grandchildren were too frightened to go in her room and say goodbye. The patient’s volunteer sat with them and together they made beautiful cards for their grandma, and wrote down their farewell notes. The volunteer had the honor of sharing their cards and notes with their grandma on their behalf; the children could say goodbye on their own terms, and the patient was comforted in her final moments.
