Phil Sabatini Ohio ’05 Sixth Season Strength and Conditioning

Phil Sabatini begins his sixth season as the strength and conditioning coach for football at VMI. Sabatini came to the Institute after working for two seasons in professional baseball while completing work on a master’s degree. He was employed for two years in the Chicago Cubs organization, from 2005-06, serving both in the club’s spring training complex and as strength coach for the 2006 Peoria Chiefs. A 2005 graduate of Ohio University with a degree in Physical Education, Sabatini also holds a Masters in Coaching Education, with an emphasis on strength and conditioning, from Ohio. He served as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Ohio while working on that Masters Degree. A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Sabatini, 28, was a fouryear member of the Ohio baseball team as a catcher and outfielder. He is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and is CSCS-certified as a strength and conditioning specialist by the NSCA. He is also a member of the USA Weightlifting organization, and is a nationally-competitive weightlifter who has earned high placings in multiple prestigious events and took part in the 2012 Pan-Am Games in Mexico City.
