Victor J. Bernet ’85, M.D., assumed a 4-year term as secretary/chief operating officer of the American Thyroid Association in October 2015. The ATA consists of 1,800-plus physician and scientist members from 43 countries who are dedicated to improving care for patients with thyroid disease and thyroid cancer. Bernet previously served 21 years in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, retiring at the rank of colonel. He is also the chair of the Division of Endocrinology at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
