Interior Design Trends That Will Shape the Next Decade

Vladimir Krull is a professional interior designer based in Wilmington, Delaware USA. According to Vladimir, As more individuals spend time at home, interior design will become increasingly prominent in 2023. As they look for the finest solutions for their interior design projects, architects and designers are becoming more conscious of their duty to enhance their clients’ wellbeing and even aid in the prevention of diseases.

As architects and designers show an increasing amount of interest in interior design, we looked back at the projects that were featured on over the previous year in the Residential Architecture, Interior Design, and Renovating categories to see if any design choices and solutions were setting trends. We discovered a handful that might be helpful in making some forecasts about the future of interior design.

Biophilic Design

Large, enormous plants are becoming increasingly popular, and indoor plants have added a brand-new depth to interior design projects. But in the past year, a brand-new idea known as “biophilic design” has become popular. Biophilic Design strives to incorporate nature into building architecture in order to preserve a certain level of connection with nature in order to benefit our health, psychology, and larger ecology. Some of the major trends we are observing and that will influence interior design in the upcoming ten years include the usage of salvaged wood, hanging plants, green walls, and substantial green projects.

Natural Fiber Furniture

Interior design is increasingly embracing the usage of furniture made from natural fibres like rattan and wicker. In chairs, rugs, and lighting, this classic material is used with more contemporary design.

“Chubby” Design

By providing our homes a youthful, playful, and contemporary style, chairs, coffee tables, couches, and even lamps are displaying their best voluminous curves that transport us back to childhood. Neotenic design, which derives its name from the idea of “neoteny”— the exaggeration of juvenile features—is a new fashion that is characterized by furniture with rounded edges and tubular forms. An appropriate metaphor for the whimsical element these items may bring to any room!

Arches

Because architects and designers are incorporating curving entrances, rounded windows, and arched mirrors into their interior design projects, arches, which are distinctive of traditional architecture, are currently seeing a rebirth. Vladimir arise as a new approach to integrate curves and more organic shapes within our houses, not only through actual archways but also through artistic patterns painted on walls, in line with the “Chubby” and Biophilic Design trends.
