HAND PAINTED IZNIK CERAMICS AND TILES

Hand painted ceramics and tiles made of the finest clay from Iznik, Turkey. Three-time underglazing process sets Iznik ceramics apart from the rest. Replicas of what Sultans used to use in the palaces during the Ottoman Empire Era. These lead-free ceramics make great decorations and are perfect for daily use. A conversation with Founder’s, Dan & Raj Chugani

Q: What continues to inspire you to grow your Family Business?

A: This one is easy, and we have several answers. Number 1 would be to make our Parents proud. We grew up in very humble surroundings and started this business to give our kids a better opportunity. Today we are blessed to have a successful business with our many loyal clients and have a legacy that will be continued by our children. Number 2 is to ensure that we make our communities better. We hope to inspire by giving back and to create a lasting legacy and a better community and world for the many generations after us.

Q: When you chose to expand, Why Grand Cayman Islands?

A: We believe in a saying that we repeat to each other often, Expansion with Integrity! When we choose to expand, we ensure that first and foremost, that we have the right team in place to pass on our mission statement of “Luxury with a Family Touch”. We also ensure that our production factory and family design team can handle the correct sourcing for another family store. Our quality of product and commitment to customer care can never be compromised. We have always loved the Grand Cayman Islands and we were just looking for the right location. Georgetown has a perfect blend of a success between the locals and the tourists. The friendliness and harmony is second to none. We are the lucky ones to be part of this wonderful community and Island.

Q: In your 30 years of business, can you share with us one special experience with a client that you recall?

Q: Where did you start and where does the name Kay’s name come from?

A: We are a family owned and operated business in the Caribbean for 30+ Years. We founded the busines in 1989 on St.Maarten. When deciding upon a name, we wanted to incorporate the blessings of our parents. Kay was short form for our Dad’s name and our Mom’s name started with S, hence Kay’s. We truly believe their blessings are with us as we have grown to 6 Islands, 9 retail stores, along with our production factories and wholesale division.

A: I remember this one like it was yesterday (though it was almost 25 years ago). A client was referred to us from another client from the state of Wisconsin. As he introduced himself and his wife, he handed us his Credit Card and walked away. We recall asking him “where are you going, we have your credit card?” His reply was “whatever she wants and I know you brothers will take care of the price. You came highly recommended based off trust and family values and I know you won’t guide us wrong.” Up to today, we repeat this story in our sales meetings and evaluation. It made realize that in this business all we have is trust and our family values.

They imagined an iconic character reflecting our inner child: “Kid Cup.” This faceless, genderless character amuses itself in a colorful and cheerful world. It is resolutely optimistic and “drinks life” from the cup it hardly ever leaves behind.
