Pick berries and mushrooms on Aakenustunturi fell

The impressive Aakenustunturi fell offers beautiful top views and good spots for picking berries and mushrooms.

In 1944, a German Junkers Ju-52 transport aircraft crashed on the side of the fell, where some of the wreckage can still be marvelled at today.

The Northern Lights come out blazing
The Aurora Borealis season starts in Ylläs at the end of August and goes on until late March. The dark, snowless autumn nights and reflective waters provide an ideal frame for Northern Lights watching. From October to February, Ylläs Twilight turns off the street lights at 10 PM to make the Auroras visible even outside your accommodation.
