Just a few small changes can make a big difference.

has seen Truro become cleaner, greener and less wasteful. Earlier this year, Truro BID and other community leaders organised the first-ever City Clean Up Week, with over 250 bags of litter collected from in and around the city centre by volunteers. Businesses large and small from across Our Great Little City joined forces to support various initiatives including The Final Straw and Refill campaigns, and Truro became the UK’s first city to gain Plastic Free Communities Approved status.

A fantastic achievement, and something that everyone can continue to support, whether you’re a café or restaurant offering free tap water refills, or simply someone who passes on a plastic straw next time you go for a drink. Another way you can support Truro’s eco-initiatives, particularly as we enter the season of Christmas shopping, is by keeping an eye out for gifts that are green as well as gorgeous. Whether they’re wrapped in biodegradable packaging, or made from natural materials, Truro’s high street has plenty to choose from. Independent furniture

and lifestyle store Uneeka on Boscawen Street has a fantastic selection of eco-inspired and ethically sourced products ranging from jewellery and fashion, through to wellbeing and kid’s toys. Plan Toys are made from sustainable 100% natural rubber and organic, water-based dyes. The Clementine offers homeware, gifts, art, jewellery and much more in its Old Bridge Street. Its seasonal range of cork placemats and coasters make perfect plastic-free presents and would look great on any nature-inspired Christmas table.
