Urban Ecology Center urbanecologycenter.org  Each of the center’s three branches offers different ways to interact with nature, like a habitat-themed playground and a room where you can meet and even feed animals native to Wisconsin.

First Stage 325 W. Walnut St.  Any kid with the theater bug will love seeing the talented kids of First Stage’s youth company starring in age-appropriate roles alongside professional adult actors. Shows range from classic stories for toddlers to plays more suitable for preteen and teen audiences. Kidz Days at the Center 929 N. Water St.  The Marcus Center for the Performing Arts presents free live performing arts programming for kids on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings during the summer. Wisconsin Ave.  Your budding star will love reporting the news at the anchor desk or going “onlocation” in front of the green screen in the Time Warner Cable Studio in the Home Town exhibit.

Miller Park 1 Brewers Way  The home of the MLB Milwaukee Brewers is a favorite for fans of all ages. Kids get in on the baseball action with a batting cage, pitching cage and more at the U.S. Cellular Power Playground. They can check out a replica of Bernie Brewer’s clubhouse and his famous slide and even run the bases after select games.

Milwaukee Kayak Company 318 S. Water St.  Take your young adventurers on a unique trek on Milwaukee’s rivers. Rent solo or tandem kayaks and traditional canoes and set off to explore the Milwaukee, Menomonee and Kinnickinnic Rivers. Adventure Rock 2220 N. Commerce St.  Give them permission to literally climb the walls. Any active kid will be captivated by the 150+ possible routes on the walls at this indoor rock climbing gym.

Urban Ecology Center

Schlitz Audubon Nature Center 1111 E. Brown Deer Rd.  This comprehensive nature center offers environmental education for all ages. Explore six miles of trails, climb the 60-foot observation tower and meet the center’s popular resident raptors. Milwaukee County Zoo 10001 W. Bluemound Rd.  Get up close and personal with over 2,000 animals in natural habitats. Take a ride on the Zoo Train or Skyglider, feed the giraffes, see the Oceans of Fun Seal and Sea Lion show and more!
