ROSSENDALE THIS SUMMER The Valley of Rossendale is an outstanding and distinctive part of beautiful East Lancashire. Set in the South Pennines, it is the perfect retreat from the pressures of daily life whether you are looking for an adrenaline fuelled escape or quiet cultural break. Adventure seekers should head to Grip & Go, an action-packed indoor climbing and activity centre for all the family in Haslingden. Scale one of the 23 walls and if you are feeling brave, attempt the Leap of Faith. There’s also roller skating and laser tag for those who prefer to keep both feet on the ground. Head over to Ski Rossendale in Rawtenstall to take to the slopes on skis, a snowboard or the super fun tubes. A quieter option is the Boo in Waterfoot. Part of the Rossendale community since 1978, The Boo hosts regular evenings of comedy and music, as well as film and cocktail nights. For little ones there is the Mini Farm Explorers toddler group at Cronkshaw Farm. Pull on your wellies and go feed the hens, goats and sheep. No visit to Rossendale is complete without a visit to Mr Fitzpatrick’s, Britain’s last temperance bar serving vintage cordials, spectacular milkshakes, floats and tasty treats.
