Hampshire’s urban cities Winchester, Southampton and Portsmouth offer visitors fascinating history and culture at award-winning museums and modern art galleries. From Winchester’s Cathedral and Great Hall, to Southampton’s links with RMS Titanic and Portsmouth’s naval past, there is never a shortage of things to do.

Groups can also explore Hampshire’s famous literary past, as it has been home to many well known faces over the years. These include the author Jane Austen, who was inspired by the east Hampshire countryside. Today visitors can follow in her footsteps with a visit to her home in Chawton, now an intimate museum. Nearby, there is the chance to find out more about naturalist and writer Gilbert White at his house in Selborne.

The county has several world-famous larger visitor attractions. These include the New Forest’s Exbury Gardens, Beaulieu National Motor Museum and Paultons Park, home of Peppa Pig World and Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard. Whether it’s a day at a theme park or a stroll along the decks of Lord Nelson’s HMS Victory, the diversity of Hampshire’s visitor attractions makes it a truly unique place to visit. The region also has a fine selection of group-friendly accommodation providers which are listed in this guide. Whether you are looking for a smaller three star hotel or five star luxury, there’s something for everyone when visiting Hampshire.

Founded in 1382, this is believed to be the oldest continuously running school in England. Guided tours are available year round, concentrating on the medieval heart of the College. Highlights include the 14th Century Gothic Chapel, College Hall (Scholar’s dining hall) and Chamber Court. Please note: the College is a working school and tours have to accommodate school events
