Leavenworth is easily accessible from the west coast via US Highway 2, and the drive through the Cascades has been voted as one of the most scenic drives in the States. The highway is well maintained with frequent pull-outs and rest stops to soak in the scenery or grab a bite. In the winter, the roads are kept clear, though you will want to check the road reports at wsdot.com/traffic/passes before heading out.

Featuring our gazebo and Maibaum (Maipole), Front Street Park is the heartbeat of our downtown. Just a few steps away, find shops and live entertainment. In the winter, bring your sled and your sense of adventure while you barrel down our sledding hill under the Christmas lights while shoppers stroll and savor.
ENCHANTMENT PARK
Game on! Enchantment Park boasts two softball fields, a junior baseball field that doubles as a youth soccer field, our Bike Pump Park (paved), Skateboard Park, and a playground. The parking lot can fit a large number of vehicles on-site as well as up to 3 buses. Walking trails link directly to the city’s scenic Waterfront Park recreation area and Enchantment Bridge connects you to Blackbird Island.
WATERFRONT PARK
Nestled along the banks of the Wenatchee River just a few blocks from the downtown core is Waterfront Park. With wide trails, bike and pedestrian friendly foot paths, and small sandy beaches to cool off at the river, this birdwatcher’s heaven is a great place to spend the day!
LIONS CLUB PARK
Located just off Highway 2 between City Hall and the community pool, Lions Club Park offers a sanctuary of shade trees and soft green grass. On Saturdays May 31-October 11, from 9:00am-1:00pm, the Cascade Community Markets offer a vibrant celebration of local farmers, producers, artisans, and live music.
ALPHORN CELEBRATION
Enjoy traditional alphorn music the last weekend in May in this amazing village setting for a weekend of visiting and local musicians playing these unique mountain instruments.
LEAVENWORTH INTERNATIONAL ACCORDION CELEBRATION

AUTUMN LEAF FESTIVAL
Founded in 1964 Leavenworth’s Autumn Leaf Festival celebrates the turning colors of the autumn leaves every year during the last full weekend of September. It is the village’s original festival and features a weekend of entertainment with a grand parade through the town.

The VILLAGE OF LIGHTS (VOL) spans three months, from December through February, transforming our village into a breathtaking winter wonderland. Waterbased activities abound, including fishing , rafting & kayaking, tubing, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) , and swimming on the Wenatchee River, which is fed by nearby Icicle Creek. Nestled in the Cascades, Leavenworth’s breathtaking scenery and access to over 800 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and rock climbing attract many adventurers.
Leavenworth is recognized by the Audubon Society as one of Washington’s best birding hotspots, with year-round opportunities and an annual Bird Fest in May. Just minutes from town, you’ll find excellent granite climbing options, along with a growing cycling community for both road and mountain biking. Don’t forget to check our Visitor Center for trail maps and tips or consider a leisurely horseback riding adventure.
The area’s 800 miles of hiking trails for every season, include two miles of trails at Waterfront Park along the Wenatchee River. For more challenging treks, explore the trails in Icicle Canyon and the stunning landscapes of Lake Wenatchee and the Enchantment Lakes Wilderness Area.
Golfers can enjoy multiple championship courses set against the picturesque Cascade foothills, while zip-lining provides a thrilling perspective of the area. The Recreation Ambassador Program supports local nonprofit organizations through fundraising opportunities, while also enhancing visitor experiences in Leavenworth.
Ambassadors play a vital role by providing guest services, sharing resource education, conducting outreach patrols, and collecting trash— all to encourage responsible recreation and environmental stewardship.
Participating nonprofits supply volunteers who serve as Recreation Ambassadors at high-traffic areas such as river access points and popular trailheads, helping to ensure visitors enjoy a safe, respectful, and memorable time outdoors.
For 2025, ambassadors will staff at least four locations every weekend from May 31st to August 31st, 2025.

• Know where you’re hiking. Trail guidelines can vary. Know before you go, whether a permit to hike a trail is necessary or if you need a parking pass.
• Never venture out on a trail without telling someone where you are planning on hiking, when you plan to begin the hike, and when you expect to return.
• Trailheads can be busy, especially during the summer months. When possible, carpool or use public transit if available.
• Consider public transit or shuttle to cut down the stress of parking.
• Bring the proper gear for the hike. This includes navigation, headlamps, sun protection, first aid, insect repellent, proper clothing and footwear, extra food and water, and more.
• Check the weather before you start, and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions.
• Be careful to pack out everything you bring in, and well, anything anyone else may have left behind that you run across during the hike.
ON TWO WHEELS
• Whether on the road or on the trail, always wear a helmet. Avoid open-toed shoes, and carry enough water for your whole ride.
• Those riding uphill always have the right of way.
• Riding a muddy trail can cause permanent damage to the trail.

Recreation
WINTER
LEAVENWORTH is a charming mountain town with outdoor recreation at its heart. Just under two miles from town, the Leavenworth Ski Hill offers a variety of winter sports, including alpine and Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and the West Coast’s only ski jumping hill, all operated by the Leavenworth Winter Sports Club. Nearby Plain and Lake Wenatchee provide additional classic and skate skiing options and scenic snowshoeing trails. For more extensive skiing, Stevens Pass and Mission Ridge are within a short drive.
Nordic skiing in the area is exceptional. The Icicle River Trail spans 8 kilometers and features scenic views, while the Golf Course Trail offers rolling hills and wildlife spotting. For night skiing enthusiasts, the Ski Hill Trails include a 7-kilometer groomed course and 5 kilometers of lit trails. The Ski Hill Lodge is perfect for warming up after a day outside.
If you want to ski downtown, Waterfront Park offers a lovely 3-kilometer trek along the Wenatchee River. Further north, the Plain Valley Nordic Ski Trails and Lake Wenatchee Sno-Parks boast over 50 kilometers of groomed trails.
For downhill skiing and snowboarding, both Mission Ridge and Stevens Pass are excellent options just 32 miles away. The Ski Hill also features a family-friendly atmosphere, with a thrilling 100-foot tubing hill. Sledding is available at Front Street Park and the Leavenworth Golf Course. Experience winter with a sleigh ride through scenic landscapes, or enjoy snowmobiling on approved trails, with elevations ranging from 2,500 to 7,000 feet and an average of 150 inches of snowfall. Snowshoeing trails suitable for all skill levels offer a chance to explore stunning forests and meadows, providing the perfect opportunity for tranquility and adventure.

The park offers stunning views and easy water access, along with activities such as camping, swimming, kayaking, fishing, horseback riding, hiking, and snowshoeing on forest trails. In winter, you can enjoy 50 kilometers of Nordic skiing. Keep in mind that weekends are busy, and parking may be limited.
