many children today and in the future. Launched in January 2022, Essilor Stellest lenses not only correct myopia but also, and above all, slow down its progression.

Clinical trial results released at the International Myopia Conference in September 2022, showed that Stellest lenses saved more than one dioptre of myopia on average over three years, demonstrating conclusive evidence that they remain effective in slowing down myopia progression in children5 child’s theoretical myopic retina. This signal helps to slow down eye elongation and, therefore, myopia progression.

Essilor is proud to be at the forefront of myopia management with Essilor Stellest lenses. The cutting-edge technology allows eyecare practitioners (ECPs) to offer an effective lens to their patients and help
Stellest lenses are designed with highly aspherical lenslet target – or HALT – technology. HALT consists of a constellation of 1,021 invisible aspherical contiguous lenslets distributed over 11 rings on the surface of the lens to create a volume of non-focused light in front of the retina, which follows the shape of a

With the growing prevalence of myopia and associated risk of ocular conditions, we are proud to be at the forefront of myopia management with our lenses to move the needle in the fight against myopia.” Essilor Stellest lenses are supplied as standard in 1.59 Airwear together with Crizal Kids+ so wearers can benefit from Essilor’s best solution for myopia control – together with a durable anti-reflective coating for long-lasting protection.
MIYOSMART: PART OF THE MISSION
MiyoSmart from Hoya are innovative spectacle lenses for myopia management. By slowing down the progression of myopia and its reduction in vision quality without correction and associated ocular health issues, children can enjoy their lives more by seeing clearly.
Since the UK launch of MiyoSmart spectacles lenses in February 2021, Hoya has continuously supported independent ECPs to raise awareness of myopia and the importance of its
Educating ECPs, youngsters and parents too (image: Hoya) management. Hoya is on a mission to curb myopia and is doing so by providing professional education such as CPD and ongoing support with practice team training, enhancing the parent and patient journey, raising consumer awareness and increasing holistic advice to parents and guardians.
Over recent months, Hoya undertook a two-month awareness campaign targeting parents of youngsters across multiple channels such as Facebook, YouTube, Mumsnet and Google, extending its campaign reach to millions of people across the UK and Ireland, to help them better understand what shortsightedness is and how new-generation spectacle lenses can help their child. All communications encouraged parents to book a sight test for their child with their local independent MiyoSmart-accredited optician.
Hoya’s commitment to myopia management has never been greater, with an exciting new expansion to the MiyoSmart product range coming soon.
MYLO: POWERED BY EDOF

After the successful launch of the Mylo soft contact lens for myopia, Mark’ennovy is launching the new Mylo Toric: a myopia management lens for patients with astigmatism.

Mylo and Mylo Toric are individually crafted silicone hydrogel soft contact lenses, specifically designed for myopia management. The lenses are powered by the Brien Holden Vision Institute’s patented extended depth of focus (EDOF) technology, which slows myopia progression and supports a comfortable acclimation to
BLOOM: HOLISTIC TREATMENT PLAN
Menicon Bloom is the holistic treatment plan from Menicon for slowing the progression of childhood myopia.
Winner of the Contact Lens Award at the Optician Awards in 2022, Menicon Bloom has been recognised for its global, industry-leading innovation and commitment to improving myopia management. Each step in the process is carefully designed to make the treatment simple to use, whilst providing accurate monitoring over the length of the treatment.
Launched in the UK last year, the Menicon Bloom approach is both effective and versatile with day and night options, allowing ECPs to tailor effective treatments for each patient. Its innovative range is made up of Menicon Bloom Day, a daily disposable contact lens incorporating extended depth of focus (EDOF) technology, and Menicon Bloom Night, a specially-designed orthokeratology lens for overnight use.
EYEDREAM: SIMPLE AND INTUITIVE
In the last 50 years, the prevalence of myopia in the UK has more than doubled – from 10 per cent in the 1960s to 23 per cent in the 2000s6. With the prevalence of myopia increasing and expected to affect 50 per cent of the global population by 2050 , it’s widely accepted that orthokeratology (ortho-k) is one of the best myopia management tools available to ECPs. The EyeDream ortho-k system is now indicated for myopia management. A recent study in Denmark7 confirmed how effective the EyeDream design was at combatting myopia progression. The results showed that over 18 months, EyeDream lenses reduced axial length growth by 59 per cent. EyeDream is simple and intuitive and has been the UK’s leading ortho-k system since 2005. It integrates seamlessly with nearly all leading corneal topographer models and enables ECPs to order lenses and monitor patient progress with only a few clicks.

The lenses are available in Mark’ennovy’s extensive signature range of diameters (13.50-15.50) and base curves (6.50-9.80) with spherical powers up to -15.00 in 0.25 steps. Cylindrical powers are from -0.75 to -8.00DC in 0.25 steps with axes in one degree steps. Mylo has a water content of 75 per cent and Dk value of 60.
With younger patients at its heart, Menicon has designed the innovative system to keep children engaged, encouraging them to take a hands-on approach with their own treatment. This includes learning how to apply, remove and clean their lenses independently.
Becoming an accredited EyeDream practice is also easy. No7 Contact Lenses’ online EyeDream accreditation course will walk ECPs through the complete fitting process. Participants will learn about the theory, corneal topography interpretation, and fitting and aftercare. The course lessons are video and webinar based, with MCQs to cement learning.
“With No7’s end-to-end support, ECPs need never feel anxious about fitting EyeDream,” says Katie Harrop, professional services director at No7. “We supply and support the Medmont Meridia topographer, install and support the EyeDream software, and offer friendly and effective technical fitting support. We also offer comprehensive marketing support.”
Last year, No 7 ran a campaign to promote awareness of myopia management in a fun and engaging way. It delivered registered EyeDream practices a social media pack, an infographic poster and new

Providing all the tools required (image: Menicon) myopia management leaflets. “The campaign was a huge success,” adds Katie. “Later this year, we will launch an EyeDream lens specifically designed to maximise the myopia management effect.”
Combined with specially formulated Menicon Bloom lens care solutions, stateof-the-art fitting software and an innovative Menicon Bloom app, this holistic treatment plan helps slow down the progression of childhood myopia whilst providing all the tools for a successful myopia journey.
