A core element of our ‘Free Trade Optimisation’ AOP project, Cost to Serve is about how we deliver to our customers as efficiently as possible. Through various acquisitions and depot network and customer change, the delivery profile has become unbalanced creating unnecessary road miles. The sales team have therefore worked closely with the supply chain teams to review customer delivery plans and create an engagement plan for customer delivery day change.

Phase one was focused on Tilbury depot and has been a great success! A total of 800 customers were in scope and of these 70% required change. Thanks to the SDMs close customer relationships, 91% accepted change with the remainder being able to find an agreeable compromise.

Following this success, the teams are now underway with phase two for St Edmunds depot, Eastwood, Middleton and Spennymoor depots.
