ANA CENICEROS POR SANDRA CHÁVEZ

“Nunca te arrepentirás de invertir tus recursos y tu dinero por servir a otros”, es la frase que Ana Ceniceros leyó en alguna parte y se convirtió en una consigna que hasta la fecha repite. La modista originaria de Gómez Palacio, Durango, tiene su residencia en Jordania, país al que viajó para convertirse en maestra de costura de mujeres refugiadas, a quienes enseña corte y confección de prendas de vestir, bolsas, estuches para computadoras, forros de libros, cojines y otros artículos. Es precisamente de su labor de lo que nos habla esta mexicana de 31 años, quien arribó a Medio Oriente gracias a su profesión. A pregunta expresa sobre cómo llegó al grupo en el que participa, nos cuenta que anteriormente vivió en Panamá, “estuve casi tres años y en ese tiempo yo estaba a cargo de un taller de costura, trabajaba para una empresa náutica”.

Luego vino la oportunidad de suplir a la maestra que en ese entonces estaba en una comunidad en Jordania, “prácticamente vine en obediencia porque no sabía nada al respecto del trabajo con refugiados. En el proceso me enamoré del lugar, la gente y del trabajo”, asegura y nos dice que ella es parte del proyecto de microemprendimiento que está abierto a toda la comunidad. “Recibimos a muchos refugiados. Especialmente en este proyecto, todas las alumnas o beneficiarias son mujeres refugiadas de Sudán, de la región de Darfur”. Pero además del trabajo de costura que realiza con ellas, la ONG con la que participa tiene diversos programas de educación en idiomas (inglés y español), así como talleres de informática, administración personal, cuidado de las emociones, crianza de los hijos y ejercicios físicos. Esta organización también atiende emergencias donando alimentos, provisiones para el invierno y auxilio para situaciones varias, por lo que, para ayudarse a seguir reciben aportaciones de otras instituciones, socios y colaboradores eventuales. “Todos los cooperantes internacionales que sirven aquí son voluntarios, es decir, no reciben ningún pago de la ONG y eso compone un valioso aporte a la sociedad”. El centro de capacitación, que es el trabajo principal de la ONG, funciona en la capital del país, Amán, y es ahí donde se ayuda a más de 100 familias, aunque Ana sólo coordina a 30 mujeres.

Para esta visionaria, su labor en Jordania le ha hecho ser más consciente de que no todas las personas tienen las mismas oportunidades, “me ha hecho tener empatía con los más vulnerables”, por eso aconseja a quien desee seguir sus pasos “que amen al prójimo como a sí mismos”. “Una vez leí por ahí una frase que decía ‘nunca te arrepentirás de invertir tus recursos y tu dinero por servir a otros’ y creo que eso es verdad, muchas veces sólo pensamos en los recursos económicos, pero también podemos pensar en nuestro tiempo, podemos pensar en las habilidades que nosotros tenemos. Cuando las invertimos para servir a otros eso bendice a las personas, pero también nos bendice a nosotros, así que nunca se cansen de invertir sus recursos, su tiempo y puedo añadir su amor en servir a otros”, dice quien, aunque creció en un hogar cristiano, fue hasta los 15 años cuando decidió servir a Dios. “Yo solamente le dije que usara mi vida como a él le placiera y que me llevara a donde él quisiera. En ese momento realmente yo no imaginé hasta donde el Señor podría llevarme, pero realmente estoy muy contenta y convencida que esta es la voluntad de Dios para mi vida y realmente sirvo con todo el corazón y con mucha alegría porque sé que es el lugar en el que el Señor me ha plantado”, afirma nuestra entrevistada.

“You will never regret investing your resources and your money to serve others”, is the phrase that Ana Ceniceros read somewhere and it became a mantra that she constantly repeats.

The dressmaker originally from Gómez Palacio, Durango, has her residence in Jordan, a country to which she traveled to become a sewing teacher for refugee women, teaching them how to cut and make clothing, bags, computer cases, book covers, cushions and other items.

It’s precisely about her work that this 31-year-old Mexican who arrived in the Middle East thanks to her profession speaks to us.

Asked about how she came to the group in which she participates, she tells us that she previously lived in Panama, “I was almost three years and at that time I was in charge of a sewing workshop, I worked for a nautical company”.

Then came the opportunity to fill in for the teacher who was then in a community in Jordan, “I practically came in obedience because I didn’t know anything about working with refugees. In the process, I fell in love with the place, the people and the job”, she assures and tells us that she’s part of the microenterprise project that is open to the entire community.

“We host a lot of refugees. Especially in this project, all the students or beneficiaries are refugee women from Sudan, from the Darfur region”.

But in addition to the sewing work she does with them, the NGO she participates with has various language education programs (English and Spanish), as well as computer workshops, personal management, care for emotions, parenting and physical exercises.

This organization also attends emergencies by donating food, winter supplies and assistance for various situations, so to continue, they receive contributions from other institutions, partners and eventual collaborators.

“All the international aid workers who serve here are volunteers, that is, they do not receive any payment from the NGO and that makes a valuable contribution to society”.

The training center, which is the main work of the NGO, operates in the country’s capital, Amman, and it’s there that more than 100 families are helped, although Ana only coordinates 30 women.

For this visionary, her work in Jordan has made her more aware that not all people have the same opportunities, “it has made me have empathy with the most vulnerable”, that is why she advises those who want to follow in her footsteps “to love the neighbor as themselves”.

“I once read a phrase that said ‘you will never regret investing your resources and your money to serve others’ and I think that is true, many times we only think about economic resources, but we can also think about our time, we can think about the abilities that we have. When we invest them to serve others that blesses people, but it also blesses us, so never get tired of investing your resources, your time and I can add your love in serving others”, says who, although grew up in a Christian home, it was until the age of 15 when she decided to serve God.

“I just told Him to use my life as he pleased and to take me wherever he wanted. At that moment I really did not imagine how far the Lord could take me, but I’m really very happy and convinced that this is God’s will for my life and I really serve with all my heart and with great joy because I know that it is the place where that the Lord has planted me”, affirms our interviewee.
