Indefinite Leave to Remain UK
Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), also commonly referred to as Permanent Residence, allows applicants to reside and work in the UK without any time restrictions.
The applicants very often use the phrases Indefinite Leave to Remain UK (ILR) and Permanent Residence interchangeably. This is incorrect though. Permanent Residence refers to residency status for EEA citizens and members of their families. Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) is a status acquired by nationals from outside the EEA. The legal effect is similar both with Indefinite Leave to Stay (ILR) and Permanent Residency.
