AFRICANA STUDIES COURSES (AFRS) 111: Introduction to Africana Studies (4) This course introduces students to the content and contours of Africana Studies as a field of study – its genealogy, antecedents, development, and future challenges. It focuses on historic and contemporary experiences of Africandescended peoples, particularly in the United States, the Caribbean, Africa, and Europe.
