M
ark Arts commemorated a milestone in the construction of its new $20 million educational arts center during a private ceremony December 13 at the southwest corner of 13th Street and Rock Road. Donors and key project stakeholders were invited to a “topping off” event to watch as the final structural beam was placed on the art center’s future home. Topping off events are a construction tradition that date to the Scandinavians in 700 A.D. Construction at Mark Arts remains on schedule and on budget with a planned opening for January 2018. Liz Koch, a lead donor for the project, signaled the crew to hoist the beam into place. Look for photos at www.vipwichitamag.com.
