Adidaswanted to stage something very special that would connect with variousdifferent scenes in London, and we helped facilitate that. Intellitix offers their services in North America and in Europe. Which markets are more progressive or better said which promotersare more progressive in using RFID solutions for their events? – North America is currently busier than Europe, but then our operationthere is a year older, or twice as old depending how you look at it because the company is only two years old! I would argue that anyone adopting RFID is progressive though, and not just our own technology. Most of the major festival promoters are trialling or considering RFID or cashless payment systems in some way – it’s a topic that everyone is aware of I think. Have you also experienced any differences between the acceptanceand the usage of social media tools between event visitors in North America and Europe? – It’s too early to say for definite, but there will always be a large proportion of event goers that are keen to experience new ways of connecting, or are happy to experiment with new technology. And there is always a small number that prefer not to engage, which is fine – everything we do with social media is ‘opt in’. What makes more of a difference, rather than nationality, is engaging with fans in the right way, and giving them real value, or exciting them in new, well communicated ways. In general, what type of RIFD-services are more of interest for promoters, cashless payment options or new media opportunities? – In Europe, cashless payment is certainly a big watchword. But social media amplification can be enormous if done right – look at Bonaroo as an example - www.intellitix.com/media/videos - so it certainly should not be undervalued. How big are the logistical and infrastructure efforts Intellitix have to undertake to supply promoters with its service, and how does a typical collaboration between a promoter and Intellitixshape up? – Everything we do requires a decent amount of hardware – most of which is custom-built – and staff to run it. The software side of things is also all developed in house, and requires monitoring by our team of developers. So I would describe a typical collaboration with a promoter as ‘detailed’! A huge amount of effort goes into ensuring that every single event we’ve ever deployed at has run 100% successfully. When you’re talking about the access control of an event, or the F&B spend, they’re hugely important elements of festivals – any sort of system or service failure in this area is simply not an option.
