Letter from the Editor Times like these “There's a storm coming, Mr. Wayne. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.” This is a quote from the movie The Dark Knight, one of my favourite movies, and one of my favourite lines in the movie. Up until now it has been just that, a great line from a great movie, but who would have thought that it could have been quite so prophetic - yet here we are. There is indeed a storm coming. As someone who is largely involved in a number of very high profile events in the region, the biggest of those being Ironfest in Lithgow, watching these events cancel one by one over the last few days and being the one who had to make the call in a number of instances has been devastating. Add to that the uncertainty now facing small business, of which we are one, and these are certainly turbulent stormy times. I would have though that getting through last year (I had an accident last year that affected us greatly, but not the community at large), then surviving through drought, bushfires and floods, we were hopefully coming to the end of this period and the future looked quite bright, but sadly, I think all these previous trials will pale in comparison when this next challenge is at it’s height. The measures being taken globally are an indication of what may lay in store for us. Full lockdown is a real possibility if we cannot get a handle on the virus

in the coming weeks. At the very least we are looking at the shutdown of all the major events and tourism opportunities this region relies so heavily on for at least a 3 month period, but I assume that will extend. As some of you may know, I have always struggled with Mental Health issues, and have over time developed a number of strategies to be able to live a life of meaning despite this. My mantra is “One foot in front of the other” and I feel like now, I may have been training for times like these my whole life. Being in business is going to be challenging over the next few months. The fear in the community will mean that people will not do what they normally do. The uncertainty in the economy will mean spending will inevitably slow down. Businesses will need to communicate clearly how they are changing to address the coronavirus issue, we are seeing some great examples of that already in the local community. The challenge now in the region is finding ways we can still support our local economy, go about our lives as normally as possible and still find a way to help each other through the coming crisis. Hopefully we can do better than just panic buying toilet paper. After staring this column with a movie quote, I will leave you with some song lyrics…

ANZAC DAY SERVICES CANCELLED

“It is with great regret that we have to advise that this year’s ANZAC Day services and parade will NOT be going ahead in Lithgow or anywhere within NSW, due to the current CORANOVIRUS (COVID-19) outbreak,” Lithgow RSL Secretary Michael Cuthbert said.

“Within the Returned and Services League, we also have a duty of care, not only to all Veterans, but also to their families and the greater community, to keep everyone as safe as possible,” Mr Cuthbert said. “This decision was not made at a local level; this decision was reached by the RSL State Branch, in consultation with the State Government and Medical Authorities. “ANZAC Day, as we all know is a day for reflection

and thanks for all of those who have worn the Uniform of Australia’s Defence Force: be they Regular Force, Reserve Force, or National Servicemen and to remember every Australian who paid the Supreme Sacrifice in the defence of our Country. “On ANZAC Day itself, although there will not be any services occurring, please take a moment to reflect in your own way about the members of the Australian Defence Force, who have served and are currently serving, and especially those who have paid the Supreme Sacrifice for us, and if you wish to lay a wreath on ANZAC Day at the Cenotaph in a personal capacity, please feel free to do so” Mr Cuthbert said.

HOW TO STAY SAFE DURING THESE TRYING TIMES

NSW public Hospitals are arranging to double their ICU capacity and to prepare for a significant increase in respiratory presentations to Emergency Department. Submitted by WNSWLHD Spokesperson

All NSW Health facilities are planning for a potential increase in presentations of people with respiratory illness over the coming weeks and months. NSW Health is working with health facilities and clinicians to maximise available critical care resources. A key activity is to manage a potential increase in attendances of patients with respiratory tract infections (such as COVID-19 and seasonal influenza) while maintaining services. This also includes monitoring intensive care bed availability, staffing and availability of critical infrastructure, such as ventilators. The risk of contracting COVID in the community from casual contact remains low. There a few simple things everyone can do to help keep themselves and others safe: • keep your hands clean by washing them often with soap and water or using hand sanitiser • avoid touching your eyes, mouth, or nose as the virus can enter your body if it’s on your hands and you rub your eyes or touch your nose or mouth. • maintain social distance when you can, 1.5 metres between you and others is good • if you think a surface may be infected, clean it with simple disinfectant to kill the virus and protect yourself and others. • sneeze and cough into your elbow rather than your hand • use disposable tissues • keep your distance from those who are coughing and sneezing • stay home if you are unwell and call, not visit, your own GP or call Healthdirect on 1 800 022 222 for advice.

There are Coronavirus (COVID-19) clinics open week at Bathurst Hospital (9am to 4:30pm), Orange Hospital (8am to 4pm) and Dubbo Hospital (10am to 6pm). These clinics are for people who have: • travelled overseas in the last 14 days AND also have symptoms similar to a cold or flu • had close contact with a loved-one or other person who has a confirmed diagnosis of COVID The Western NSW Local Health District have well established plans for handling respiratory infections, like COVID-19 and influenza. These plans are reviewed regularly and updated to reflect the latest advice and research.

COUNCIL WORKS – WEEK ENDING 15 MARCH 2020 “For the week ending 15 March, the following key works were completed by Council staff”, noted Council’s Mayor, Cr. Ray Thompson.

“Within the urban Lithgow area last week, Council staff have focused their efforts on the asphalt patching of roads throughout the urban Lithgow area,” said Mayor Thompson. “In particular, staff have completed maintenance repairs on Tank Street, Hassans Walls Road, Caroline Avenue, Vista Place, Laurence Street, Pillans Road,

Coalbrook Street and many others. Alongside this work, Council has been continuing its revolving mowing program with works completed at Tony Luchetti, Lithgow Basketball Stadium, Wirraway Estate, East Street, Lemnos Street and Enfield Avenue.” “In the last week Council’s rural works staff have worked towards the maintenance and repair of a number of sealed road assets, in line with the works completed in Lithgow,” noted Mayor Thompson. “Bitumen seal repairs have been conducted on McKanes Falls Road, Sodwalls Tarana Road, Diamond Swamp Road, Range Road, Glen Davis Road, Magpie Hollow Road and Martins Road. On top of this, Council’s capital renewal program has been continuing with three roads resealed last week. William Street, Portland, Lidsdale Street, Wallerawang and View Street, Lidsdale have been resealed.” “Over the last 12 months, Lithgow City Council has been advised of unapproved construction works being conducted within the public road reserve,” said Mayor Thompson. “Such works include the installation of gardens, kerb modifications, parking bay installations, driveway installations and tree removals and planting. While Council encourages members of the community taking pride in their property and the amenity of Lithgow generally, approval for any work undertaken on a nature strip or outside a property boundary requires Council approval. In most cases, such requests are reviewed and approved, however it is very important that the application is made. This allows Council engineers to assess the proposal and consider any risks to residents such as trip hazards, restrictions to line of sight and impacts to amenity of local streetscape themes. Any residents that wish to complete any modifications or improvements within the public road reserve are encouraged to refer to Council’s Policy 10.5 for further information.”

NSW GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO ACT QUICKLY ON STATE RECOVERY PACKAGE

“Queensland has supported their businesses by deferring payroll tax for six months, and that’s the type of measure our business owners need as well. “It is also important that the package supports those industries that will bear the brunt of the initial damage caused by the global uncertainty, especially the tourism, hospitality and education sectors, with manufacturing not far behind them. “A swiftly delivered NSW based stimulus package would also send a strong message of support to the businesses doing it tough, showing that the Government understands their plight and will do all it can to assist them in keeping the doors open and not having to lay off their staff,” Ms Seccombe said.

The state’s peak business organisation, Business NSW, says time is running out for the NSW Government to announce its own state focused stimulus package as the COVID – 19 pandemic interrupts ongoing business operations. “The Federal Government has been decisive in delivering its package of support measures for business severely impacted by this global emergency, and the NSW Government needs to quickly follow suit,” said Business NSW Regional Manager – Western NSW, Vicki Seccombe “NSW makes up one third of the national economy, so it is vital our businesses are given whatever support that can be offered,” Ms Seccombe said. “When you consider many of our local businesses are still overcoming the impacts of drought and bushfires,

this is the time for the Government to leverage its strong balance sheet to support our businesses. “Business NSW has congratulated successive O’Farrell, Baird and now Berejiklian Governments for their strong financial management and fiscal responsibility over the past decade, but now the State needs a turbo charge during unprecedented times. “Just last week Business NSW formally wrote to the Government with our submission for June’s State Budget, but the situation is far too urgent, and rapidly changing, to wait until then. “What is important is that we support business owners who are keeping their doors open and employing people, so it’s natural that Payroll Tax relief should be a ‘no brainer’.

Support Line 1800 413 828 Is your small business suffering? Free financial counselling is available. We are here to help. Just call us.

“That’s why this financial counselling support line is so important. It is going to play a critical role in helping small business owners get through these really difficult times.” The new service has come about as a direct response from the Federal Government to the devastating bushfires that swept large parts of Australia in recent months. The financial counselling sector has long advocated for funding to establish a specialist telephone support line for small business owners. In the UK, Business Debtline has been running for a number of years. Small business financial counsellors help sole traders and people who run small businesses in many ways. They provide advice on among other things: •options for managing business debts as well as personal debts •the implications for directors who have guaranteed a business loan or other service/supply •how to dispute business debts in external dispute resolution schemes •how to negotiate repayment arrangements on tax debts, leases, utility bills, with suppliers or any other business debt •what government services and grants may be available to help small businesses. They are also trained in negotiation and counselling and to offer emotional support.

Financial Counselling Australia is excited to announce the launch of Australia’s first financial counselling service for small business. The Small Business Bushfire Financial Counselling Support Line (1800 413 828) and website (www. smallbusinessbushfire.org.au) fills a much-needed gap: financial counselling for small businesses affected by the bushfires and experiencing financial difficulties. In mid-January, the Federal Government announced funding of $3.5 million over two years to set up the new service. “Small business owners commonly have their business and personal finances intermingled. They may have guaranteed a business loan with a personal asset such as their house, for example,” said Fiona Guthrie. “And as soon as a crisis hits, not only is the business at risk, but so are their personal assets,” Ms Guthrie said. “And many small businesses impacted by the bushfires are now experiencing a double whammy as a result of Covid-19.”

I recently had the pleasure of attending the annual Portland Art Exhibition at the Crystal Theatre.

It’s vital that we keep supporting our local aged care facilities. If they close, country people need to move away from their home towns for care - and that’s just not on.

LITHGOW AGED

CARE

It’s been no secret that Lithgow Aged Care have been operating under Federal sanctions in recent times. They have been working through those issues and I have been working very closely with them to ensure the ongoing viability of Lithgow Aged Care. Lithgow Aged Care is home to 76 residents and employs 130 staff. They have just had a wonderful new extension built with the help of $3.5 million from the Federal Government. We can’t afford to let Lithgow Aged Care close and that’s why I’ve been working very hard with the Minister for Aged Care, Richard Colbeck, the board of Lithgow Aged Care, and the Federal Government to find a solution to keep it going. Closing it is simply not an option for all of the residents, their families, the staff and Lithgow comunity in general. I’m working hard on this and will keep the community posted.

RE

CORONAVIRUS - TRANSPARENCY NEEDED ON LOCAL CASES The coronavirus outbreak is obviously very concerning, but Australians have always been very resilient, and getting through tough times is something we’re used to doing. We’ll get through this as well, I can promise you that. The key is not to panic and calmly work through the local issues as they arise. Our health authorities can assist in keeping everyone calm by being open and transparent on local coronavirus cases. The three cases that came to light in Orange last week were confirmed on Tuesday, but the health authorities didn’t make this known until Friday after my office (and probably others as well) started seeking confirmation of rumours sweeping the city. I should point out that last week’s cases did not go through the Orange Health Service (hospital) and it was not up to the hospital to make a public statement on it. It was up to the NSW Government. On Wednesday night I posted on Facebook of another case in Orange that I was aware of and it was only the next day that the health authorities made this case public and another one in Bathurst as well. The authorities had known of these positive tests for two days. Our health authorities are going to be greatly tested over the coming weeks and months and we need to support their efforts. I certainly do. Everyone’s doing their best but my friendly and constructive request of the NSW health authorities is that they help stop rumours and panic by providing open, transparent and timely information on local coronavirus cases. Please just give us the facts. We can handle it!

COUNCIL FACILITATES MEETING WITH UWS, SYDNEY TRAINS & REGISTERED TRAINING ORGANISATIONS

A number of interested parties visited Lithgow last week to inspect rail infrastructure, UWS training facilities in Lithgow and rail heritage assets at the State mine location in response to an invitation from Lithgow Mayor Ray Thompson.

Mr Rick Naylor from Sydney Trains, Eric Sidoti (UWS), Terry Garrett (ACM Training), Thad McGroarty (GHD) and Howard Fisher (Former Chairman Westfund) explored existing UWS campus facilities and toured the State mine and rail infrastructure proximate to Lake Pillans, to assess future potential for rail training activities in Lithgow. “It’s a good start to get potentially interested parties together to discuss various ideas that could result in more activity in Lithgow, and this initial step I believe was a very successful first step” said Mayor Ray Thompson.

TAKE ACTION TOGETHER AGAINST BULLYING This National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence, headspace Lithgow is promoting ways young people and parents/carers can minimise potential damage caused by bullying.

Data collected through headspace National shows that approximately a quarter of young people aged 14-25 reported being bullied in the previous 12 months[1] – whether verbally, physically, socially or online. headspace Lithgow Youth Care Coordinator, Jason Eggins, said it’s an issue that can affect everyone. “Bullying can increase the risk of developing mental health problems for everyone involved but particularly those on the receiving end,” Mr Eggins said. With the theme ‘let’s take action together’, the local youth support service encourages young people experiencing bullying to build support networks with friends, family, colleagues and fellow students, and know that they aren’t alone. “Bullying isn’t something we should accept as a ‘normal part of growing up’. We encourage young people

experiencing bullying to tell someone trusted as quickly as possible so it can be dealt with,” Mr Eggins said. Parents, carers and teachers can play a large part in supporting young people who experience bullying by encouraging open and honest communication. “If a young person reports bullying to you, listen to their story and ask for information about who, when, where and how. Be reassuring, ask what they want you to do about it and make sure they understand it isn’t their fault,” Mr Eggins said. Mr Eggins also encourages bystanders – those who see or know about bullying, to be aware of how they respond to the situation. “If you find yourself in the position of a bystander, try not to accidentally support the bully by standing by and doing nothing, laughing at the person being bullied or participating in cyber bullying by ‘liking’ cruel posts,” Mr Eggins said. Research shows everyone has a role to play in preventing bullying – whether it be at home, in schools or in the workplace. Support for young people is available through headspace Lithgow or by talking to a counsellor online at eheadspace.org.au.

headspace Lithgow is supported by funding from Wentworth Healthcare, provider of the Nepean Blue Mountains Primary Health Network through the Australian Government’s PHN Program.

CURRENT STATE OF EVENTS IN THE REGION

Off the back of the cancelling of the Royal Easter Show last week, regional shows, and large scale events are now in the process of cancelling or postponing indefinitely in line with government bans on gatherings larger than 500 people.

Lithgow Show scheduled for this coming weekend has been cancelled. Lithgow’s largest tourism attraction event - Ironfest - which this year would have celebrated it’s 21st birthday has been cancelled also. The Aussie Leather Crafters gathering at the Foundations has been cancelled, as has the When the smoke clears thank you event. Our advice at this time is to check ahead of attending any event whether it is still going ahead. We will try and keep all these events updated as best we can in the coming weeks.

HERE IS SOME GOOD NEWS

In our times of shopping stress we have been informed of these two incidents this week:

• A father who has sufficient toilet paper supplies for his family buys a pack of this valuable commodity if he sees it in a supermarket on his travels, and gives this blessing to others he knows are in need. Well done young man! • Just yesterday I witnessed this kind heart in another young man: He was in the check-out line at a local supermarket and noticed the lady in front of him could not purchase two lots of milk – only one. He said he would take the second milk and then he put it first in his purchase line and passed it on freely to the person ahead who would have been short of milk that day! Thank you sir! What a blessing it is to see kindness shining through in these unusual times.

However, we have an advantage over a lot of businesses in that we get seen by nearly 7000 people in print and online every week. So we wanted to extend an offer to all our local business friends. We would like to offer you a free ad in an upcoming paper. We will be running a page in the paper each week to encourage local consumers to support local businesses. We will have a maximum space for 24 free business card sized ads per week, and they will be given out on a first come, first served basis. We will do the artwork for you free also, or you

can send us a copy of your business card and we can run that for you. There is no catch here, just that we can only run a limited number of ads each week, and we do our best to get everyone a go. All that we ask in return is you think about supporting our local business if you do spend any money on marketing in the coming months. If you do decide to take an ad with us in the coming months, we will do our best to give you affordable ad rates and help keep your business going in these times. Working together we all stand half a chance. If you would like to take us up on this offer, email sales@villagevoice.net.au and we will be in touch.

SCHOOLS TO IMPLEMENT DISTANCING MEASURES The NSW Department of Education is introducing proactive measures to limit the impact of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in our schools.

Mark Scott, Secretary of the Department of Education, today announced that schools would adopt social distancing measures requiring them to cancel assemblies, excursions, travel, some events and conferences. Mr Scott said these measures are precautionary and designed to reduce exposure via non-essential gatherings. "Schools have been a focus of the community and the government as the impacts of coronavirus have developed globally," Mr Scott said.

"From Monday onwards, I expect school assemblies and substantial gatherings to be cancelled, along with all excursions. "The community expects schools to be as safe as possible. We are implementing these measures to provide peace of mind for students, parents and staff." "These cancellations also extend to inter-school arts, sports, initiative activities and events. All major arts, sports and initiative activities and events will temporarily be ceased until further notice. This includes whole-school sporting events and interschool events involving three or more schools. "Local inter-school sport and other activities can proceed, but we ask organisers to ensure that as far as possible, reasonable precautions are taken," Mr Scott said.

"I trust our principals and staff to show leadership during this time." Schools will be provided with more detailed advice and suggestions on how they can adjust their day to day activities with minimal disruption. The department is continuing to prepare for further closures if necessary with scaling up of technology, additional training of staff and preparation of offsite lessons. Families and students in self-isolation can find useful information to continue learning from home. Visit https://education.nsw.gov.au/teaching-and-learning/ curriculum/learning-from-home For the latest information, check COVID-19 advice for schools.

CONGRATULATIONS JAN HAWKEN Bathurst MP Paul Toole has congratulated Lithgow quiet achiever Jan Hawken for her award in being named the Bathurst Electorate 2020 Local Woman of the Year.

Earlier this month Jan attended a special awards ceremony held at the International Convention Centre in Sydney while her name has also been included on the NSW Woman of the Year Honour Roll. Mr Toole made a surprise visit to Jan’s home last week to present her with a bunch of flowers and certificate as a sign of recognition for the award as well as a token of appreciation for all that she does for the local community. “Jan is a selfless person who always puts others first,” Mr Toole said. “She is the president of the Vale Ladies who run events and cater for a variety of community groups, including the elderly and people with disability. “I cannot think of a more deserving person to be named as the Bathurst Electorate 2020 Local Woman of the Year. “Jan never seeks recognition for the work she does and is a real quiet achiever in the Lithgow community.”

WESTERN NSW LOCAL HEALTH DISTRICT VISITORS AND VOLUNTEERS

The Western NSW Local Health District has announced changes to visitor and volunteer traffic in all its hospitals and inpatient facilities as part of its COVID-19 response. Submitted by WNSWLHD Spokesperson

From today, visitors will be restricted to one per patient at any time, and all visitors must be older than school age. All in-hospital volunteer activities will also be suspended as a precautionary measure. The WNSWLHD regrets any inconvenience, however these changes will help minimise the chance of patients and visitors being exposed to COVID-19. This is particularly important for patients who may be particularly vulnerable to COVID-19.

follow us on

People are also asked to not enter a hospital if they have:

• a fever or a cold and flu-like illness • returned from overseas in the last 14 days • been in contact with anyone who has been confirmed with COVID-19 in the last 14 days.

The management of COVID-19 is constantly being reviewed and new measures will be put into place in local hospitals and health services as needed. Everyone can play a role in responding to COVID-19 by following advice on social distancing and by thoroughly washing hands regularly and covering coughs and sneezes. Our past participants have created positive, lasting change in their communities, which makes us all the more excited to welcome the next cohort through our new, purpose-built program.” Australian Fellowship program participant, Bec Johnson, and co-founder of the Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre in Perth, used the 2019 program to help her community expand its services to adults with Type 1 diabetes. They grew the Facebook group and expanded services at their centre, working closely with doctors, pharmacists and marketing experts to reach this new demographic. She offers the following guidance for applicants, “The power of online community to make change and contribute to social good is profound, and it’s important to show the ways you are making a real impact through your Facebook community in your application. During my Fellowship with the Facebook Community Leadership Program, I accessed on-point coaching, much-needed expertise to build new skills, and vital connections with other community leaders – helping our organisation and community impact hundreds of people living with type 1 diabetes. The Accelerator program takes this to the next level, and is an opportunity to join a global community of leaders who are using the Facebook platform and tools to change the world.”

The Facebook Community Leadership Program is a global initiative that invests in people building communities. It now includes: - The Community Accelerator which commits millions of dollars to support people creating and leading communities. This is an evolution of our Fellowship program, which supported 115 leaders across the world. Together, their projects impacted a reported 1.9 million lives through online community support, resources and other activities made possible by the program. The fellowship program included leaders like Latasha Morrison, who is driving healthy dialogue around race relations, and Noah Nasiali, who provides farmers in Africa with credible and reliable farming information. - Learning Labs which brings group admins with similar goals together into a collaborative digital classroom for structured learning. - Power Admins Groups which bring over 40,000 community leaders together to share advice with one another and connect with our team to test new features and share feedback. - The Community Hub, where anyone can access product education and learn more about our programs. It includes tips and tools for starting, managing and growing a community. In addition, Facebook has announced more support for community leaders to help them grow their groups and manage conversations more efficiently. New features for group administrators include: - Membership management - Improvements to how group admins manage new member requests, including: - More format options in membership questions, like single-answer multiple-choice questions and multipleanswer checkbox questions. - Approving new member requests automatically based on requirements, like someone’s current city, if they filled out all membership questions, have other friends in the group and have been on Facebook for a specific length of time. - Additional filters, like potential members who have answered all membership questions, more options within the “Join Facebook Date” filter, if they have or do not have a profile picture and the ability to create and save the specific combinations of filters that are frequently used. - Content moderation - New features make it easier for admins to see important posts and find specific content, including: - Keyword Alerts to let admins create a custom list of words and phrases and then receive notifications when those terms appear in their group, allowing them to easily spot and respond to content that may need more immediate attention. - Post topics to help admins and members quickly search for all relevant content around a particular topic within a group.

Issue 302 - 20th March 2020

WILDFIRES THE INAUGRAL PORTLAND CRICKET UPDATE CHILDRENS' ART SHOW Over the past couple of weekends the Wildfires have continued their season with now only one game to go.

On March 1, the Wildfires hosted the Hawkesbury Hogs in at Lithgow. The Hogs are a very good team who are going to the UK later in the year to play. The locals batted first and although at one stage were 3/75, they fell away towards the end and finished with 105. Top scorers were Glen Campbell with 31 retired and Nev Castle with 23. In reply the Hogs took 32 overs to reach the target and finished with 4/110. Best bowling was by Nev Castle 2/9 and Glen Campbell with 1/22. The Hogs had a great day and commented as to the good facilities and wicket and are looking forward to our games next year. On the following weekend, the Wildfire travelled to Quirindi, staying overnight before their game on Sunday. Again, the Wildfires batted first making a better effort than the previous week scoring 145 from their overs. Batting honours went to Burrows 33, Taylor 32, Castle 26 and Walsh 18. In reply, Quirindi made the runs with only 4 overs remaining, although they only lost a few wickets. Although most bowlers bowled tight, the best figures went to Dave Hicks 1/12 and Greg Kitchener with 1/18. The Wildfires enjoyed their “road trip” and the hospitality of Quirindi and look forward to hosting Quirindi back here next year. The final game is against Central Coast on March 22 in Lithgow. After that 4 players have been selected in the “State of Origin” teams to play Queensland in Tamworth on the Monday/Tuesday before Easter. These are: Steve Walsh, Neve Castle, Dave Hicks and Glen Campbell. We wish them well.

St Stephen’s Anglican Church, Portland were delighted to organise the first Portland Children’s Art Show on Saturday 7th March at the same time as the Portland Art Festival.

Creative designs, around the theme What I Love about My Town as well as colouring design, made a very impressive display at the Church hall.

Light refreshments and a jumping castle also enhanced the venue. Art works were provided by local students from Portland Central, St Joseph’s Catholic, Cullen Bullen, Capertee and Meadow Flat Public Schools. Particular thanks must go to local teachers who gave time in their busy school day for children to complete their artworks. Children who attended the display were delighted to receive free caricatures of themselves done by local young artist, Jayde Lutschini. “We would love to thank the Village Voice and Portland community for their support. Children had a fantastic time at the display which we loved hosting. We are looking forward to organising a similar event in 2021 and having you join us,” church member, James Barnes said.
