For those interested in pursuing a post-secondary education career, Kirkwood Community College’s Washington Center campus is a great place to start. The two-year college was established in the late 1960s and has since grown immensely. Currently a $9 million state-of-the-art regional education center is under construction with an anticipated opening in the fall of 2014. The new Washington County Regional Center will continue to offer college credit courses, continuing education, high school completion/GED programs and workforce training, while also offering college credit opportunities to qualified high school students at no cost to the student and their families. provides Washington County students with affordable tuition, a convenient location and endless educational opportunities. What’s more, the Washington community is in close proximity to the highly esteemed University of Iowa, which is nationally ranked for its top-rate medical facilities, law programs and liberal arts curriculum. Access to Iowa Wesleyan College is quick, with its campus positioned a short 30-minute drive south of Washington.
