Visit local tasting rooms to sample the wines produced from the grapes grown within the acclaimed Walla Walla Valley Appellation. Every tasting room dotted throughout the region has its own personality reflective of the wines crafted by their expert winemakers. You may not know that Milton-Freewater is also home to Blue Mountain Cider Co., one of the largest cideries in Oregon. Blue Mountain Cider Co. and the Watermill Winery tasting room sits in the heart of Milton-Freewater in the beautifully restored, historic Watermill Building. Owned and operated by the Brown family, farming is a longstanding tradition now reaching into the third generation. The tasting room welcomes guests to sample Watermill’s superlative estate wines and enjoy a unique experience as it also hosts the tasting room for the cidery. One of only 100 craft cideries in North America, and one of approximately six cideries in Washington and Oregon, Blue Mountain Cider Co. produces award-winning, hand-crafted hard apple and other fruit ciders utilizing local apples exclusively.

Zerba Cellars, also a family operated winery, offers a selection of fine crafted, award-winning wines from their own vineyard served in their unique tasting room. Zerba Cellars has the distinction of being one of the first wineries in Milton-Freewater and recently earned the title 2011 Pacific Northwest Winery of the Year, awarded by Wine Press Northwest. This distinctive honor was earned from a field of 1,200 wineries in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and British Columbia. Zerba Cellars also offers wine tasting in their Woodinville, WA and Dundee, OR locations, all three locations are open seven days a week. Milton-Freewater is also home to Don Carlo Vineyard, one of the many vineyards gracing the rolling hills surrounding the community. Owned by Tim and Lori Kennedy, previously an apple orchard, this cobbly loam vineyard is now producing estate bottled varieties including Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Rose. Tim is the founder of Tim’s Cascade Style Potato Chips, now retired and making wine with his wife Lori, family and friends. The Don Carlo name is a tribute to Lori’s grandfather who immigrated to the U.S. from Calabria, Italy and was known as a great hobby winemaker, producing awardwinning wines among his friends and family. On-site “Wine Tasting and Potato Chip” tours are by appointment only by calling
