Nine local players chosen for All-Star Baseball Game JP Raineri Sports Editor On Monday, June 15, some of the best High School Baseball players from the Riverside and San Bernardino counties will meet up for the Inland Empire Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Game, which will be played at San Manuel Stadium in San Bernardino. Representing the Southwestern League are Temecula Valley shortstop, David Maldonado, and teammate, Jarrod Iwasaki (catcher/ pitcher), while Vista Murrieta will be represented by outfielder Hunter Tidwell and infielder Angel Ortiz. Murrieta Valley first baseman Aaron Shackelford will represent the Nighthawks. Mitch Hayes, the Southwestern League’s Most Valuable Player from Great Oak, who played a lot of third base for the Wolfpack, will also be on hand while Vista Murrieta Coach Matt Mosiello takes the assistant coaches clipboard for Riverside County. Rounding out the local roster from the Sunbelt League are pitcher Parker Fokken, and infielder Jed Walz from Paloma Valley and outfielder Eli Thomas from Temescal Canyon, who were all selected to play in Monday’s contest against San Bernardino. Game time is 7 p.m.
